Let me be clear: Nov. 3 will be Election Day as per the U.S. Constitution, and I will convene the Electoral College at noon on Dec. 14 per the Constitution.
As a former North Carolina public school teacher, I'm saddened, disappointed, and angry to see just how poorly our public school teachers are paid today.
I voted today - have you voted yet?
The Wake County Board of Elections had folks there wiping everything down & providing hand sanitizer. So if you have been wondering if it's safe to vote in person, know that every precaution is being taken so you can safely vote this year.
I am absolutely overjoyed! I’m deeply honored to have been re-elected your Secretary of State. You have made me one happy woman by allowing me to continue doing the job that I love.
Thank you so very much. I can’t do this without you & am so thankful to have you on my side.
It truly was a great honor and privilege to receive the state's prestigious Order of the Long Leaf Pine. This was a wonderful surprise presented at the NC Global Advantage Forum by
@NC_Governor
. I'm still in awe of receiving this award. Thank you all!!
BREAKING: The U.S. Supreme Court asked parties for briefs about whether it should still review Moore v. Harper in light of the North Carolina Supreme Court's recent ruling on the matter. This indicates that SCOTUS may be considering dismissing Moore.
My heart broke when I learned of Senator Kay Hagan's passing. She served North Carolina effectively and elegantly as a State Senator and U.S. Senator. My prayers go out to Chip and the family.

This is NOT how democracy works. What we're seeing this afternoon is un-American. Stoking false expectations and making false claims have led to today's events. The peaceful transition of power is one of the strongest pillars of our democracy.
Congratulations to
@KamalaHarris
. You have the commitment, knowledge, and compassion that we need in our elected officials. I look forward to calling you Vice President Harris.
My mother always “recycled” her poinsettias each year. After the holidays, she would trim them and store them in a closet. She would bring them back out in the autumn and they bloomed during the holidays. They were some of the most spectacular that I’ve seen.
Happy Poinsettia Day! The poinsettia was introduced to the United States in 1825 by Joel Poinsett, the first U.S. ambassador to Mexico. The name poinsettia is derived from his name. North Carolina is one of the top 10 growers in the country!
Happy first day of Spring! This weekend I went to the Art in Bloom hosted by the
@ncartmuseum
. The Bonsai Society always has a display in one of the courtyards all year round and the blooming hysteria is the star of the show.
It was my honor to serve in the NC Senate with Marc Basnight. He was truly “of the people." He went out of his way to keep in touch with everyday folks and Eastern NC had a true champion with Senator Basnight.
I grew up on a farm and have always been involved in 4-H. So I was really excited to attend the annual Wake County Farm Bureau Legislative Breakfast this morning.
To my surprise, I won the door prize drawing and received a bucket full of farm safety items.🎉🎉
I was devastated to learn our dear friend, Melanie Goodwin, departed earth this week. She was a fighter all her life & has left a big impact on all who knew her. She will be sorely missed. Tommy & I send
@WayneGoodwinNC
& family our deepest sympathies, prayers, & love.
It's hot outside! And the heat will only continue. If you don't have a/c but need a cooler environment, contact 2-1-1 for assistance and referrals to cooling centers.
For so many people, this year’s Thanksgiving will look so very different, but however you celebrate, Tommy and I wish you a safe, healthy, and Happy Thanksgiving.
I'm absolutely devastated to learn of the passing of the great RGB. She was an icon, a leader, a true servant. I had the great honor of meeting her at an event at Meredith College, and words cannot describe the moment. Our country mourns. Our heart breaks.

Tomorrow at Noon you can watch North Carolina's Electoral College Assembly live on UNC - TV .
Performing the National Anthem will be Jerenae Raeford, (former) Miss Greenville & Miss North Carolina 2019 (1st Runner up). I'm so very excited for her to join us tomorrow.
I want to personally thank
@SecMandyCohen
for your dedicated service to NC - especially during a very trying time. You have handled the COVID pandemic with extraordinary grace. You have always been extremely courteous & great to work with. We'll miss your leadership at NC DHHS.
I had the privilege to celebrate the Chinese New Year at the Lunar New Year Gala in Cary. The celebration started with a dragon dance and performances included classic dance vocals and classic instruments.
It's going to be a scorcher today in NC w/the heat index reaching as high as 105 degrees. Please be careful out there today - drink plenty of water & check on the elderly and pets.
It’s Municipal Election Day in North Carolina.
Polls are open until 7:30pm. Tip O’Neill always said "All politics is local." Your vote matters!

Did you know that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. made numerous visits to North Carolina throughout the duration of the Civil Rights Movement? He held a conference at Shaw University & he recorded his “I Have a Dream” speech Rocky Mount.
Did you hear the news? In the U.S. News & World Report released today, Raleigh & Durham took the number 2 spot for the Best Place to Live in the country!
Today we salute the men and women in uniform who have protected our country. A very warm thank you to all Veterans for your service.

🎄 Merry Christmas 🎄
This has been an extraordinary year on so many levels and it’s been challenging. I’m keeping everyone in my prayers and wishing you and your loved ones a healthy, safe, and happy holiday.
There’s an active shooter in East Raleigh - I’m sick to my stomach. My prayers go out to the police and emergency responders and to the families of the victims.
I’m grieving for last night’s victims. My heart goes out to their families during this excruciating time.
Gabriel Torres - a Raleigh Police Officer
Nicole Connors - a wife who quit her job to take care of her mother.
Susan Karnatz - a wife & mother of 3 sons.

It's
#WomensEqualityDay
, and I'm reminded of the wise words from the great Maya Angelou: Each time a woman stands up for herself, she stands up for all women.
Breaking: the NC Supreme Court will hear the redistricting case on 1/11 and ruled to put the filing period on hold & delay the March 8th Primary election until May 17th.
Dr. King had many powerful quotes but this one resonates with me the most. Be kind. Love one another. And do the right thing. Because doing the right things makes us better people.
It took women over 70 years of hard work, perseverance, & activism to gain our right to vote. Today, we celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the 19th Amendment giving us women the right to vote.
Now, more than ever, we need to exercise our right to vote.
