After losing to Luffy, Crocodile was freed from the shackles of his own making. He could finally start healing from his traumatic loss against WB. And in the war, he realized that WB was just a man. He wasn't a god. And thus, Crocodile's willpower came back, stronger than ever.

Crocodile is a perfect example of the importance of willpower. Whitebeard crushed his will and Crocodile was forced to rely on getting another power - Puton, because he felt that he could never match WB's power
Luffy's punch not only freed Alabasta but it also freed Crocodile

I think Oden would try to make a deal with Zoro cuz he would be too scared to even try to fight him. Zoro would allow Oden to act as his chair for 2 years and Oden would agree but only when Zoro promised not to fuck his daughter.
