Here is my appraisal of Justice Chandrachud's Disability Jurisprudence. I thought of writing this counterintuitive piece for SCO to problematize the overwhelming consensus on his disability jurisprudence being 'progressive.' .

The former Chief Justice approached issues with compassion but his decisions are premised on disability operating in silos and margins

This is important. Kudos to @SauravDassss. A vigilant legal journalism is a need of the hour. Liberties can not be denied on the whims and fancies of individual judges.
#BREAKING: Supreme Court judge, Justice M.M. Sundresh, recuses himself from hearing Surendra Gadling’s bail plea. He stated that the matter will now be placed before another Bench. In my recent column, I had revealed how Justice Sundresh’s conduct in Gadling’s case raised.

This is so profoundly sad to watch. Our stadiums or, for that matter, any public infrastructure has no accessibility. Mia Mingus says 'access is love'. Then, denial of access is being unloved. It becomes individual responsibility of a disabled/caregiver to have any fun in life.

In cases of Prof. GN Saibaba and Stan Swamy adjournment became a method to punishment by process. Those adjournment were done by subordinate courts, and we know what happened to them. Here is the Supreme Court doing the same with Gadgil.
#StoryAlert 🚨. Surendra Gadling’s bail application has become a Kafkaesque file in the Supreme Court. It appears on the cause list, only to vanish. It is mentioned, only to be deferred. It is scheduled, only to be adjourned. The judge presiding over it, Justice M.M. Sundresh,

@EkDiary59334 Dear Vijay:. I've read+reread this many times. I *really* appreciate this offering on many levels. you+others provide so much to consider+review+research+create+do. I'll be reviewing/thinking more+uplifting in my little spheres of "fraternity". Thank you very much for this.

In Om Rathod, the Supreme Court employed @talilalewis' understanding of ableism and highlighted eugenics, colonialism etc are sites of ableism. But the Court's own record on protecting debilitated Dalit and religious minorities is dismal. Do read our arguments:.@KK_Kannabiran.
New Feature: @EkDiary59334 & @KK_Kannabiran reflect on the State’s tendency to contend with the disabled on its own, flawed terms. Their entry point is the Censor’s directive to the makers of 'Sitaare Zameen Par' to include a message from the PM:

Lives at margins are shaped by several "unfreedoms". @KK_Kannabiran and I have attempted to understand in what ways constitutional lives of disabled are shaped by unfreedoms and situated us at constitutional 'borderland' much like the protagonist of Toba Tek Singh.

Sociologist @KK_Kannabiran ma'am and I write that Divyang and Harijan are based on Hindu epistemic privilege. However, there is a crucial difference between the two: they come from radically different imaginations of 'fraternity'.

'Gandhiji, I have no Homeland' was a powerful counter of Babasaheb Ambedkar to Mahatma Gandhi. This was Ambedkar’s reply to Gandhi in their conversation at Manibhuvan on 14th August 1931. The reply was a profound reminder of the exclusion and oppression faced by Dalits.
