What we did:.✅ Reviewed global best practice.✅ Held interviews/focus groups with 61 participants.✅ Facilitated in-depth discussions on what’s working (and what’s not).

Why it matters 👇. Too often, diverse communities are left out of research design, leading to mistrust, low participation & findings that don’t benefit everyone. This deepens health inequalities.

Improve early detection. Develop safer, more effective treatments Increase survival rates across ALL communities. Representation in research saves lives.

Our bodies respond to treatments differently. Genetics, biology and lived experience all impact outcomes. If research doesn’t reflect everyone, future treatments may not work for everyone.

This isn’t about community disinterest. It’s about systemic exclusion from research. 📖 More here:

Black women are twice as likely to be diagnosed at a late stage. South Asian women face an even higher risk of late-stage breast cancer. Late diagnosis = fewer treatment options and worse outcomes.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK, but not everyone faces the same risks. For Black and South Asian communities, late diagnosis is far more common. And the reason? The research still isn’t inclusive. 🧵👇.
