A conundrum for English teachers and cognitive science lovers:.The redundancy principle suggests that reading aloud while a learner is also reading increases cognitive overload. Therefore, would an English teacher who reads books out loud be breaking this principle? 🤔.

In 2012, GCSE students were 1 years old. Participation rates for secondary school girls' netball and football have decreased in the past three years, year on year. Why are more young people choosing GCSE PE?.

📈 More young people are choosing GCSE PE 💪. This is despite 45,000 PE hours lost since London 2012. Our Assistant Director for Children and Young People, Vicci Wells says: “Role models like the Lionesses, Roses & Paralympians are inspiring girls & young people with different.

I'm convinced that 90% of instruction in children's swimming lessons is to limit progress to keep parents paying and 10% is to actually help them learn.

I've been working on a portfolio for our under-8s team to keep as a sentimental record for the future. The curriculum is inspired by @tom_mitch3's work on delivering a psychosocial curriculum, looking at different pillars each month & feeding tech/tac in. More to come!

This comes from the recent article exploring how LLM can impact on our brains, using EEG readings and essay writing to gather the results. In terms of learning, early integration of LLM can hinder long-term learning and memory.

Wow 🤯.When we overly-rely on AI, this can lead to an accumulation of cognitive debt. 'Cognitive debt defers mental effort in the short term but results in long-term costs, such as diminished critical inquiry, increased vulnerability to manipulation, decreased creativity.'.

I've long believed that elite coaches are better teachers than most teachers and education leaders. Watch this British and Irish Lions clip for a glimpse into this world. Use the Bingo card to mark as you watch - how many teachers achieve all in a term?.

▫️◽◻️ Block teaching enhances retention, attendance & pass rates; three primary quality metrics when assessing programme success. Yet courses are advised to spiral, space, interleave, holistically map etc. A quality vs Quality debate that'll never go away.

In a squad of 23, NONE of the players play for a Welsh club. Are we okay with simply accepting this for women's football in Wales?.

Today my u7 football team made two teams from 10 players, set formations & established their roles in a friendly. I set the task, walked away and they bossed it. However, discovery learning only works effectively when learners are well-coached with processes and understanding.

The negative impact on the Default Mode Network neural system due to phone addiction will be the biggest cause of mental health issues, if not already. Ban phones for under 16s.

I have four kids under 9. They empty the dishwasher, feed the dogs, make their breakfast, take bins out, put clothes away, get ready for school, help each other etc. This feels like a resentful mum pointing the finger at her partner. Parent together better.

As a father, watching Adolescence with my teenage son and daughter hit home hard. We all need to be having these conversations more. I've backed Netflix's plan to show the series for free in schools across the country, so as many young people as possible can see it.
