I am pleased to see the Jevons Paradox being widely discussed in the past few days. I wrote about it in the context of AI last year. As William Jevons put it, it is “wholly a confusion of ideas to suppose that the economical use of fuel is equivalent to a diminished consumption”.

I kid of course. Really looking forward to this. Presumably it’s Pattinson as Odysseus, Holland as Telemachus, Zendaya as Nausicaa, Hathaway as Penelope, Nyong’o as Calypso and Damon as Mentor. Although Hathaway as Calypso and Nyong’o as Penelope might be more interesting casting.

I don't know: Everyone says these numbers are mind-boggling, but they always sound quite small to me. I mean: if you had a dollar for every galaxy in the known universe, you would not be half-way to the ten-year cost of renewing the key provisions in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

Obviously the big problem with the Death Star is that it’s a FOAK project. They had the right idea in The Rise of Skywalker: a fleet of Star Destroyers to benefit from economies of scale and learning-by-doing.
Empire Magazine reveals that Director Orson Krennic in this season of #Andor is in charge of raising money to build the Death Star and is behind on schedule and over budget.

This is really fascinating from @AmyJaffeeenergy: When oil prices are low, the energy industry does not have enough resources and incentives to invest in low-carbon tech. When oil prices are high, public support for subsidies falls. The result is long-term under-investment.
My latest w Mahmoud El-Gamal “Fickle environmental attitudes and cleantech underinvestment” is a continuation of our work on oil price cycles. We find that clean tech M&A and asset acquisition is procyclical 🧵eg goes down w low oil prices)
