Wilyer Abreu on today's blowout 17-1 Red Sox win (through a translator) "It was an incredible day for us." Later added "I'm here to help, I'm here to win."
Big first series for the rookie: 6-for-12 with two walks, two doubles, a home run, and five RBI in his first three games.…
Some days I look at Nomar Garciaparra's prime in Boston and just smile.

1997- .306/.342/.534, 209 hits, 44 doubles, 11 triples, 30 home runs, 96 RBI, 22 SB, 35 BB/92 K, 6.6 bWAR, AL Rookie of the Year
1998- .323/.362/.584, 195 hits, 37 doubles, 8 triples, 35 home runs, 122…
Listening to Tim Wakefield's NESN colleagues and former teammates breakdown talking about him having just found out he passed away has been hard to listen to. As tragic as anything that's happened in the sports world in a very long time. We're all going to be processing for a…
Trevor Story went 4-for-4 with three doubles (4) and two stolen bases (3) in today's 6-3 Boston Red Sox win. The shortstop is 7-for-19 in five games since returning from the IL.
I would take 22-year-old Vaughn Grissom with six years of player control over any of the remaining 2B options: Whit Merrifield, Tim Anderson, Amed Rosario, Adam Frazier. I was meh on the Giolito signing.
I absolutely LOVE this trade.
Four biggest reasons the Red Sox climbed over .500.
4. Kenley Jansen turning back the clock
3. Jarren Duran reemerging from Worcester with a cleaner approach and stance.
2. Josh Winckowski pitching like he's 2021 Whitlock
1. Alex Verdugo playing like he's taken a step forward
When all was said and done Masataka Yoshida finished his first MLB season slashing .289/.338/.445 with 33 doubles, 15 homers, 72 RBI, 34 BB/81 K, and a 1.4 bWAR. He was 8-for-8 in stolen bases. That .289 batting average was good for fifth in the American League.
While his…
JBJ and Christian Vazquez, who were not always treated well by fans, gave heartfelt thank yous to Red Sox fans upon leaving. It has been over a week and Xander Bogaerts hasn't. I hope he does it soon- it would mean a lot to the kids who have grown up idolizing him.
Good morning. Did you know that today is Dustin Pedroia's birthday? The 2007 AL Rookie of the Year, and 2008 AL MVP slashed .299/.365/.439 with 394 2B, 140 HR, 725 RBI, and 138 stolen bases for the Boston Red Sox from 2006 until he retired in 2019. Happy birthday Laser Show!
Triston Casas has quickly become my favorite player on the Boston Red Sox, partially because he made me look smart after I continually defended him after his terrible April. He has terrific power and an usually mature approach at the plate to compliment his freakishly good eye.…
Triston Casas is going to be a star and I hope the Red Sox are willing to commit to him and the base of this team and anchor of this line up for the next decade along with Devers. A big three for Kyle Teel, Roman Anthony, and Marcelo Mayer to grow into. Bello and Ceddanne are…
Cannot emphasize enough how huge Tanner Houck's start was tonight. Bullpen completely gassed and he goes and puts up a line of 9 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 9 K. Drops his ERA to 1.35 over 26.1 innings. Game blazed by at a cool hour and forty-nine minutes.
Kenley Jansen with his third save of the week (27th of the season). The veteran closer's ERA drops to 2.97 over 39.2 innings with 47 strikeouts to 15 walks. He's been everything the Red Sox could have hoped for in 2023 providing a steady presence in the ninth inning.
Bobby Dalbec is currently slashing .289/.392/.619 with an OPS of 1.011 for the
@WooSox
. His 30 homers rank second in the International League. He also has 64 RBI, and 15 stolen bases.
Dustin Pedroia career numbers/accolades. Is he a Hall of Famer?

4x Gold Glove
2x World Series Champion (2007, 2013)
2007 AL Rookie of the Year
2008 AL MVP
.299/.365/.439
1805 hits
394 doubles
140 homers
725 RBI
922 runs
138 stolen bases
51.9 bWAR
Pablo Reyes went 2-for-4 with a double (7) and scored what turned out to be the winning run on a wild pitch for the Red Sox in their 5-4 win over the Nationals tonight. He's now slashing .320/.360/.417 over 112 PA. Great story. Has earned himself regular reps at second base.
Losing Devers would be catastrophic for the Red Sox. Worse than Mookie. Worse than Xander. There is no face of the franchise at this point without him. Bad look for all parties but Raffy. They have to figure it out, grin and bear the cost if not just for marketing the team.
This 2024 Portland Sea Dog's roster is going to be absolutely stacked.
-Roman Anthony
-Marcelo Mayer
-Kyle Teel
-Blaze Jordan
-Nick Yorke
-Wikelman Gonzalez
-Hunter Dobbins
-Alex Hoppe
-Christopher Troye
And that's just off the top of my head. If you live in the Portland area,…
Triston Casas went 2-for-4 with a home run (23) and four RBI (59) in today's 7-3 Boston Red Sox win. The 23-year-old rookie is now slashing .268/.368/.503 over 462 PA in his first full season.
Amongst qualified American League rookies, Casas leads in home runs and OPS (.871).…
Masataka Yoshida went 3-for-5 with a very long home run (8) and three RBI (39) in tonight's 10-4 Red Sox victory. The Japanese leftfielder, who many said the Red Sox overpaid for during the offseason, is currently slashing .308/.379/.488 over 280 PA in his debut MLB season.
Jarren Duran is currently second in the American League in doubles (33) and ninth in stolen bases (23). He'd be tied with Houston Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker for seventh in the American League in batting average (.297).
I for one am glad the Red Sox never traded Jarren Duran even though I very much thought he had no chance at a success in Boston. Its fun to be wrong sometimes.
The Red Sox just swept the team with the best record in the MLB. Two-game series but still impressive. Came back from a 3-0 deficit against one of the best pitchers in baseball to do it. If you're not excited about the future of this club, I'm not sure what to tell you.
Remember when the Yankees traded for Andrew Benintendi and lots of Red Sox fans got butthurt about it because he was a good player in Boston for a few years? He's not even going to be on their playoff roster.
Don't get attached to anyone in the Red Sox farm system. I'd bet a lot of money at least one of Mayer, Anthony, and Rafaela get dealt for a starting pitcher this offseason.
Are the Red Sox a flawed team with weak starting pitching? Sure. Is the offense eventually going to slump again? Yep. Are players going to get injured? Absolutely. But they're a fun team that battles and after 2022, I'm enjoying the hell out the part when things go well.
Another good game out of Pablo Reyes, this time as the leadoff hitter. He went 2-for-4 with a double and scored a run. Slashing .330/.368/.432 over 96 PA. His career high in plate appearances was 157 with Pittsburgh in 2019.
Been very happy with Reyes. Hope he's back as a…
Regardless of where he plays in 2024, Justin Turner has left his mark on the Red Sox organization, and the Boston community at large. Great player, great teammate, all-time good guy.
@Dodgers
fans were spoiled to get to see him all those years.
Jarren Duran went 3-for-3 with three doubles (21) and two RBI (26) in tonight's 9-3 Boston Red Sox win. The 26-year-old outfielder is slashing .300/.360/.467 over 200 PA with three home runs and 11 stolen bases.
These are the Red Sox players that should be untouchable. No one else should be off limits for starting pitching (though obviously some make more sense than others).
-Triston Casas
-Brayan Bello
-Roman Anthony
-Marcelo Mayer
-Kyle Teel
That's it.
A lot of very good prospects played for the Drive this year but earned a promotion to Double-A before the postseason. SS Marcelo Mayer, OF Roman Anthony and C Kyle Teel are all on MiLB Pipeline's top 100. Team won their league without them. Good pitching the key with Luis Perales…
Red Sox have acquired SS/2B Vaughn Grissom from the Braves for Chris Sale, per
@JeffPassan
.
Grissom spent a majority of ‘23 in AAA after struggling at SS. Slashed .330/.419/.501/.920 with 8 HR, 4 3B, and 36 2B.
Breslow puts an end to Sale’s time in BOS.
🚨SOURCES🚨
The 2023 Red Sox lineup will be different from last year. So will the rotation and bullpen. Free agent signings will be involved. Trades also on the table.
The full strength 2023 Red Sox are no joke, at least on paper.

Five takeaways from the first Red Sox road trip of the season.
1. Red Sox starting pitchers may have been underestimated during the offseason. The depth in currently minimal depth and injuries but the starting five have all looked solid.
2. Justin Slaten, Greg Weissert, and…
If Devers' knee injury is significant, I'm ready to see Breslow trade all the one-year guys and officially call this a development season. Just losing Story was already pushing it. Losing Raffy would be a deathblow.
Red Sox training staff really needs to take some accountability. This many injuries this early is bonkers. Not sure I've ever seen a team so snake bitten.
There's a realistic chance the Red Sox will have at least five consensus top 100 prospects by the end of the season.
-Mayer
-Anthony
-Yorke
-Rafaela
-Bleis
-Drohan
-Perales
Wikelman Gonzalez, Brainer Bonaci, and Blaze Jordan also in the conversation. We've come a long way.
Cubs fans must have been disappointed with outfielder Seiya Suzuki's first season in the majors. He slashed a medicore .262/.336/.433 with 22 doubles, 14 homers, 46 RBI and 42 BB/110 K over 446 PA. The defense wasn't a plus either at -0.7 dWAR.
In his second go around, he was…
This Red Sox team might surprise. Idk maybe its just the magic of being 0-0 and Opening Day being just over 48-hours away, but I have an inexplicably good feeling based on what we've seen so far.
I know, I know- "its just spring training" "small sample size". Fine. Completely…

Red Sox should try to bring Kiké Hernandez back on a $7 Mil/1 Year prove it deal. Same rate he got the last 2 years. Can serve as a super utility guy or CF depending on what signings and trades are made. His leadership, versatility, and experience are quite valuable.
Remember when people wanted to trade Casas for Anthony Rizzo and then DFA Bobby D, and then Chaim Bloom traded Aldo Ramirez for Kyle Schwarber and like 90% of the Red Sox fanbase called for Bloom's televised tar and feathering?
Red Sox replaced their Jewish, Yale-educated head decision maker with the initials "CB" with a Jewish, Yale-educated head decision maker with the initials "CB".
Masataka Yoshida leads all qualified MLB rookies in batting average (.300) and hits (121). He's also tied for second in doubles (26) and is fourth in RBI (56).
