Hiromu Takahashi has "the wild idea of holding a junior and heavy festival at the same time". His idea is to hold the BOSJ and G1 Climax at the same time in October with each tourament final taking place on the final day.
Zack Sabre Jr. is also interested in the IWGP (World) Heavyweight Title and suggested a tournament. He added: "What's the name of that belt again? IWGP Heavyweight Super World Wide Web Championship? Why did they change it to something new? I wanted to win the belt Inoki wore."
Katsuhiko Nakajima met with Hisashi Shinma. Not only will Shinma accompany the Triple Crown Champion to the ring on 12/31, but Nakajima also got permission to use "Ali Bom(b)aye", the original version of Antonio Inoki's theme song "Hono no Fighter" (Flame Fighter).
Syuri's estranged father and her brother came to watch her win the Red Belt in Sumo Hall. It was the first time since her debut in 2008 that her father came to see her wrestle. He called her afterwards and told her: "I'm supporting you." #スターダム

Kota Ibushi was rushed to a hospital after his match with Naomichi Marufuji because he apparently " injured both ankles". After arriving backstage, Ibushi "he called for an ambulance because he was in severe pain and was unable to make any comments".
IGF (Inoki Genki Factory) published the content of a warning letter sent to AJPW and Katsuhiko Nakajima. The letter states that if "such performances are repeated [...] in the future", IGF will "will seek an injunction and compensation for damages..." 1/
Kazuchika Okada in an interview on the NJPW website:

"An evil girl is born!" Atsushi Onita named Suzu Suzuki his successor to women's current blast matches. He plans a "Bombing Olympics" event with women's current blast matches and Onita himself will educate "his daughter who is 45 years younger than him."
Shingo Takagi laid out his plan for an"Current Blast Title Match" at the Meiji Jingu Baseball Stadium on 8/29 with no challenger for the NEVER Openweight Title in sight. This would be the first of its kind in NJPW since Great Muta vs. Great Nita at the same site 21 years ago.
For the first time since his in-ring accident ZERO1 posted a photo of Shinjiro Otani in his sickbed. He opened his phone for the first time in about 5 months and expressed his condolences to Antonio Inoki.
Tokyo Sports about NXT Japan: "The aftermath of the mass layoffs by WWE is likely to extend to Japan." The article quotes not further specified "people invovled": "It is likely that this will make it difficult for the company to expand to Japan."

After Katsuhiko Nakajima highly questioned the Triple Crown Match on January 3rd, AJPW president Fukuda annouced that the winner of Nakajima vs. Miyahara (12/31) will face "a special assassin I will prepare for him" on 1/3.
Kazuchika Okada says his interest in the current IWGP Double Championship is declining and he intends to temporarily break away "from the title front". When the "second championship" was added to Okada "it seemed like the value of the belt had been halved."
Mayu Iwatani says after being in match 0 in the Tokyo Dome this year she wants to have a match on the main show next year. Her ultimate goal is to have a defense of the Red Belt on a Stardom show inside the Dome.

Strong Kobayashi died on January 2nd at the age of 81. Kobayashi started training in 1966 and became Japan's first masked wrestler making his debut in 1967. Kobayashi is a former IWA World Heavyweight and Tag Team Champion and held the NWA North American Tag Team Title twice.
Akira Hokuto (53) made an appearance at today's Sendai Girls Korakuen Hall show. Hokuto revealed that 11/29 is a special day for her, because 4 years ago she overcame breast cancer and "returned to performing arts" for the first time in over a year.
BADBOY Hido (Hideo Takayama) passed away on October 17 at the age of 51 after a long illness. He is survived by his wife Megumi Kudo. The funeral service was conducted by family members only.

Because of COVID-19, he is not allowed to see his family very often so they are in contact with him by videophone or other means.
His consciousness is stable, but he's under mental stress and is receiving mental health care.
Kenta Kobashi & Masahiro Chono, this year part of the selection commiteee for the Tokyo Sports Pro-Wrestling GP, suggested a reform of the Awards. Chono suggested

RIZIN CEO Nobuyuki Sakakibara is showing strong interest in Kota Ibushi and "furthermore, RIZIN officials even expressed interest in the plan to expand into pro-wrestling with the invitation of Ibushi."

Tokyo Sports: If both remain champions, there is a good chance that the first confrontation between Naito and Hiromu will happen at the March 3 Anniversary Show in Ota Ward.
Wrestle Kingdom 18 drew an offical crowd of 27,422 to the Tokyo Dome. That's up from 26,085 last year, but didn't reach the 30,096 for Keji Muto's Grand Final.

Yutaka Yoshie passed away after today's AJPW show at the age of 50.
The "Pink Tank" was set to celebrate his 30th Anniversary in wrestling, which featured runs in NJPW from 1994-2006 & as a freelancer since '06.

At a press conference of the Japan Pro-Wrestling Hall of Fame Executive Committee Genichiro Tenryu, Tatsumi Fujinami and Riki Choshu announced the establishment of a japanese pro-wrestling hall of fame that will collaborate with Tokyo Sports.
In an interview with Tokyo Sports Kento Miyahara talked about the issues between him and Katsuhiko Nakajima. Miyahara says their stances on pro wrestling are completely different: “He was spotted as a karate champion and was scouted." 1/4
The Triple Crown will be decided in a Three Way Match between Jake Lee, Kento Miyahara and Yuma Aoyagi this coming Saturday in Ota Ward.
Therefore in cooperation with the Baba family Lee will carry the Internationl Title, Miyahara the PWF and Aoyagi the United National Title.
Shinjiro Otani returned to ZERO1 for the first time in over a year after his accident in the match against Takashi Sugiura who's bowing down in this photo.

Nearly 20 women between age 16 to 30 applied for Evolution's Joshi pro-wrestling project according to Tokyo Sports. After the next "audition" with a physical fitness test and another interview, two to four students will be selected to become All Japan's first female wrestler.
New Japan Pro Wrestling announced a crowd of 26,085 fans for Wrestle Kingdom 17 in Tokyo Dome. The two pandemic affected shows last year did a combined 18,426.

Naoya Ogawa (52) is thinking about a return to pro-wrestling after his appearance for All Japan on 12/13. Ogawa says it would require some preperation "to become a leader again, but there's no rule that says I can't do it."
Today AJPW ran two shows in Hotel Emisia Sapporo drawing 596 to the first show (Lindaman vs. Gresham and Saitos vs. Suzuki/Omori) and 797 to the second one that saw Yuma Aoyagi vs. Katsuhiko Nakajima for the Triple Crown. Overall a successful tour of Hokkaido.
If you're wondering how things are going in Japan, let's just put it this way: Joji Otani was welcomed back into locker rooms and is working indies all over the country.
Coming off their biggest success in a long time, it still feels like All Japan is not in a good state. Now Tokyo Sports reports that Shuji Ishikawa is leaving at the end of January, supposedly "because of his distrust of president Tsuyoshi Fukuda".
All tickets for tomorrow's GLEAT VER.1 event in Tokyo Dome City Hall have been sold. At the beginning of the show GLEAT will present their official theme song by Yoko Shimomura who composed songs for Street Fighter II, Kingdom Hearts, Xenoblade and many more.
NJPW owner Takaaki Kidani has 2 goals for the 50th anniversary in 2022: Continue running the Toyko Dome 2 days in a row and return to terrestrial prime-time broadcasting. Kidani's idea: "We'll run shows on the 4th & 5th and start (airing) at 8:00 on the 7th (Friday)."
Otani can't even use a mobile phone, so he uses his nurse to help him keep in touch with his family. Because of COVID, he is only allowed to be visited by relatives and has not been able to meet with ZERO1 company officials or wrestlers.

Takaaki Kidani won't blame COVID-19 solely "for the slump in attendance" on NJPW shows.
"I don't think there is any way around the fact that foreign players can't come. We just might have to find a way to increase the number of matches (per show)."
Tatsumi Fujinami defeated TAMURA to capture the HEAT UP Univseral & PWL World Championship Double Crown at today's HEAT UP event in the Todoroki Arena in Kawasaki. This is Fujinami's first singles title win since winning the IWGP Heavyweight championship in 1998.
Jun Akiyama joining DDT seems to be a done deal. Sanshiro Takagi is already planning the future with Akiyama as an executive: "I'd like you to go one step further and take on a position of some kind. Something beyond coaching. We'll have to talk about the specifics."
Arihiro Takeda, director of CyberFight, who was involved in the negotiations to realize Great Muta vs. Shinsuke Nakamura, revealed the circumstances that led to the match:

Tatsumi Fujinami was tested positive for COVID-19 and will thus miss NJPW's Wrestling Dontaku on 5/1 as well as HEAT UP's second ever Korakuen Hall show on 5/2.
The cause of Yutaka Yoshie's death is arteriosclerosis according to his family. After his match Suwama rushed to the hospital and he also later visited Yoshie's family. They told him that his death was not caused by a wrestling match.
