Today, colleagues joined communities across Essex to remember those who gave their lives in conflicts around the world. Our Chief Officer / Chief Executive Rick Hylton and Watch Manager Geoff Young represented our Service at the Cenotaph. We will remember them.

Crews extinguished a fire affecting a shop under construction and two unoccupied flats in Clacton. Station Manager Nick Singleton said: "Crews did a fantastic job. Thank you to Tendring Council and Essex Police for finding an alternative route for the Remembrance Sunday parade."

Crews averted a cat-astrophe when they rescued moggy Max from a bridge over the A12 this afternoon. A crew from Ingatestone carried out the purr-fect rescue, using chimney rods to coax him down. It's fair to say Max's owner will be furr-ever grateful!

Crews have extinguished a fire affecting a bungalow in Hadleigh. We were called to Church Road at 3.07am and crews from Rayleigh Weir, Leigh and Southend (two) and Grays' aerial platform attended. Nearby Hadleigh Junior School is unaffected and Church Road is open this morning.

Crews are dealing with a fire at an industrial building in Eastways, Witham. We were called at 4.42pm and have multiple crews in attendance. We'll be at the scene well into the evening. Please avoid the area if you can and keep your doors and windows closed if you live nearby.

A130 - serious road traffic collision There has been a serious road traffic collision on the A130, at the Rayleigh Spur roundabout. The A130, A1245 and A127 have been closed in both directions. The road closures are expected to remain for some time. Please avoid the area.

Update 5am Firefighters have been working to put out a garage fire that had spread to two vehicles. Two crews will remain at the scene monitoring hotspots. An investigation will be carried out to determine the cause of the fire.

SM Jez Tuckwell said: “We’d ask residents to hold off having bonfires until we’ve had some more rain. "If you are planning a bonfire, please make sure to set it up well away from anything it could set alight like trees, fences, sheds etc and keep an eye on it at all times.”

Update midnight Crews have extinguished a fire affecting a workshop and two gardens by tackling the fire in sections. Two crews will remain at the scene dampening the area and monitoring hotspots. The fire was caused by a bonfire that had spread out of control.

Four crews - two crews from Essex and two crews from @SuffolkFire - worked alongside a local farmer to put out a field fire in Great Maplestead today A fire in a field had spread to a neighbouring field and crews worked to put the fire out before it spread to farm buildings
