… His wife, Ella, survived him by 18 years. In 1972, aged 83, she married a young archivist, Stewart Manville. She died at White Plains on 17 July, 1979. “All my compositional life I have been a leader without followers”: #PercyGrainger

Been pretty impressed with the quality of playback we have nowadays. I often wonder what the great composers of the past would think about this technology.

Took a a break on this over Christmas — I want it to be high quality content. So, taking my time. Started working on an orchestral suite called 'The Master of Light' to dedicate to Leroy Anderson (and possibly underscore the doc). Here is a little bit of that:
Working on a new mini-doc series for YouTube. Essentially, it will be biographical ‘Composer Portraits’ (starting with the various light music fluff composers I have a fondness for). First will be Leroy Anderson — amazing fellow. Keep you posted on progress.

Christmas party I played for sang some carols too. Fully convinced singing with friends around the piano is magic. Christmas is the only time we all hum the same music. People bond so deeply over music. The fact we are all on our own musical islands is probably not good.

Wanted an extra long piano bench for duets… You can just make things. Wife to upholster it soon. Keep you posted. 👍

Making new music is deeply satisfying for me. I am at peace when I write. Not sure if it will ever amount to anything, but I want to keep doing it regardless. Hoping, praying, dreaming that it might one day be a lucrative endeavor AND a deeply gratifying one.
