@levelsio just noticed a strange, delayed URL change on Nomadlist, preventing proper bookmarking/reloading. It adds a duplicate " in the middle of the URL.

I noticed something interesting with how Netflix does show launches nowadays. Previously, they would release the entire show, and you could binge it all in one day if you tried hard enough lol. But nowadays, they release the first half of the season, usually 4 episodes, then.

Starlink announced a $5/month plan that gives unlimited usage at 500kbits/s. Modern apps and web pages would immediately back up every buffer and make for a painful experience, but it is fun to consider optimizing inside that tight box (in the 90s, 4x ISDN was high end!).

Memory and reference chat history features are broken in ChatGPT. So is the voice mode, the latency is terrible. These three features are what make ChatGPT a great assistant. I am canceling my subscription until they fix this.

One thing for sure: It is fast. Even when it is "thinking". GPT-5 will take 2 - 3 mins to think.

Opus 4.1 performance has really degraded recently. When something doesn’t work, I expect it to do a web search, reason and fix it. It didn’t. I explained the problem to GPT-5 (thinking, reasoning set to hard) via the API, not the ChatGPT app. And I got the solution. I pasted.

In the era of AI, "taste" matters more than ever. An engineer with no taste will be okay with error or info messages that are very technical & mean nothing to the user. AI can solve this in one shot, but it does require the developer to even notice that the message is bad in.

I always find it weird that businesses and companies don't give back to OSS that their business runs on. I personally donate monthly to a few that have defined my career. I think companies should treat OSS as a SaaS. Even $20 from a mid-sized business can go a long way.
