"There are many one-sided laws in Canada that mandate French at the expense of English." Well...
@Polymarket Moreover, it is not not reciprocal at all. There are many one-sided laws in Canada that mandate French at the expense of English. Extremely hypocritical and unfair! https://t.co/SNbFP5Bmes

"there is NO requirement for him to speak French" When the Prime Minister of Canada bullies you for not speaking French through the media, there kind of becomes a requirement, apparently.
So, they are forcing out the CEO of Air Canada because they didn't like his condolence message not being in both English and French, even though there is NO requirement for him to speak French. It's sickening.

"What is shocking is that places like America and the UK *do* have to lock up their products" Indeed, and that we put up with the type of people in our societies that cause such waste and destruction.
You shouldn't be surprised that Japanese stores don't lock up their products That is the norm all over Asia South Korea, China, Singapore What is shocking is that places like America and the UK *do* have to lock up their products

“there is a movement going on right now to conquer Canada. To remove our democracies and freedoms, to implement Sharia law, and to make Canada part of the Islamic caliphate. Canadikstan.” Is there verifiable proof of this?
51st State. I am a Canadian, and I’ve posted many times about Canada – about what was once a great country, and how far we’ve fallen. I’ve posted about my displeasure with the Liberal government, and how much they’ve contributed to the decline of our nation, and I’ve posted

"The far-right in the European Parliament (the AfD, Melonis and Le Pens in the house)" What makes someone far-right, versus right?
The far-right in the European Parliament (the AfD, Melonis and Le Pens in the house) standing up to celebrate passing the law that will allow them to bring ICE-style practices to Europe: starting with building prison camps for migrants outside of our borders.

"Time for a new approach to how I use my time." How about looking at something we could do to make things better, however large or small, and focus on promoting positive change? What would that look like?
I think I’m done with posting about how dark things are in Canada and why…all the time. Time for a new approach to how I use my time.

How much of a difference can one man man? "Since Bukele took office"
President of El Salvador Nayib Bukele releases video showing the transformation of his country. Since Bukele took office: - Homicides plunged from 2,398 in 2019 to just 114 homicides in 2024. - Murder rate is now 1.9 per 100,000 people, a historic low. - In 2022, Bukele

"So let’s be honest about what’s actually happening here:" Putting alcohol and fentanyl at the same level is not what's actually happening here. Addictive, hardcore drugs that destroy people's lives should be illegal, and those on them should be taken into care.
For everyone who says supervised consumption sites “enable addiction”: The one in Vancouver literally has detox upstairs. Staff help people access treatment, recovery, housing, and a way out. They don’t just keep people alive, they give people a path forward. Meanwhile…

"in both official languages" Maybe it's time we consider repealing the Official Languages Act, which doesn't seem to represent the majority of our nation.
Let’s not blur the issue. This is not about whether AI can translate a message. It is about whether a leader of a federally regulated national institution can personally demonstrate respect in both official languages when it matters most. Technology can replicate words. It

"That’s Liberal media bias. And it’s rampant in our Country." This is a poor example of whatever you're trying to state, because @MarkJCarney seems to have put in tremendous effort to improve his French, which is what he seems to be bullying Air Canada's CEO into replicating.
Remember when Carney cancelled his second French debate last year before the election because of his poor French? Was the media calling for him to drop out? They may have done pieces like this on him, but by the end of it they were still basically promoting him. That’s Liberal

"Am I wrong? Official bilingualism was enacted to address national unity." I don't know. Trudeau Sr's time was so long ago, that it isn't fresh in memory enough to have a good grasp of the intent behind it. I've always thought it was a way to gatekeep political control.
I speak for myself. Am I wrong? Official bilingualism was enacted to address national unity. Has it? Does an Ontario Liberal want to offer lectures on winning?

It's hard to reconcile that there can be such totally polarized views on this, each believing that the opposing stance is completely impossible to understand.

"Extrapolating, why don’t Ottawa denizens know or speak any Indigenous languages? Why doesn’t any federal civil servant?" Requiring government employees to speak the language of the peoples of the unceded land where they work would make more sense than French.

"French literally could be a cultural and linguistic shield against American infection of our culture." This is a very reasonable take! French could certainly act as such a shield. Though, personally my vote is for Canada to strengthen our relationship with the US.
@JerryTurin French literally could be a cultural and linguistic shield against American infection of our culture. French is also an international language and one used in diplomacy alongside English.

"Just admit you don’t like our Francophones or history." I'm not a huge fan of the attempt at bullying Canadians into pretending we're a bilingual country, while also promoting multiculturalism. English is the international language, and currently the one we could unify around.
In what world would Spanish be more useful in CANADA??? The entire damn country is plastered with French—and there easily could be Québécois or other Francophones visiting Anglo provinces who get lost and struggle with English. Imagine being able to HELP THEM. Just admit you

"Another anglo explaining that anglos are too dumb to learn another language" It's not that English speakers are too dumb to learn another language, there are simply no other languages that have the current utility of English. Bigotry against English speakers is still bigotry.
Another anglo explaining that anglos are too dumb to learn another language and somehow thinking he's proving that this apparently uniquely inept group of people should be in charge of everyone else who have more ability than them. 🤔

"francophobia" Do you think people have a phobia of French, or just don't care to learn a language they have no day-to-day use for? In this case, I suppose it could go either way, but I dislike the over-usage of the term "phobia" to mean dislike.
Trying to get a French polar bear to understand English rather than just teaching a dozen French cues to the zookeepers shows a JJ McCullough level of francophobia.
