The world has made remarkable progress on maternal, newborn & child survival since 2000. The number of children under five dying each year has been halved. Maternal deaths have fallen by 40%. But we need to do even more. No child or mother should die of causes we can prevent.

More children received life-saving vaccines. But millions remain unvaccinated. Barriers like shrinking budgets, fragile health systems, misinformation & access constraints must be overcome. No child should die from diseases we know how to prevent.👇

Five-month-old Adam from Syria is one of over 1 billion children reached through immunization efforts by @gavi and partners like UNICEF since 2000. By 2030, the goal is to protect 500 million more. New funding will get us closer to ensuring vaccine access #ForEveryChild.

Our thanks to everyone who donated to protect children from diseases. UNICEF continues to deliver for @gavi, working with countries to develop immunization strategies, lower vaccine costs, and rolling out lifesaving vaccines, including to children caught in conflict or disaster.

Every child deserves the best chance at life. Not just some children. Not just those born in the right place or time. Every child. This simple but powerful idea is the foundation of the @gavi vaccine alliance.

Today, we announced a $1.6 billion pledge to support @Gavi. If Gavi isn’t fully funded, too many children could be left without the vaccines they need. Now more than ever, we must stand together to support immunization #ForOurFuture. https://t.co/Q54wAESqHm

A 20% global rise in measles cases in 2024 shows just how quickly diseases can return, even within a year.    But this surge is preventable. Vaccines save lives.    @UNICEF, in partnership with @gavi is working to prevent outbreaks by making vaccines accessible to every child.

The world is a tough place for children. I have seen it in Burkina Faso. But I have also seen the difference we can make. UNICEF is committed to supporting the efforts of the Government in ensuring children are educated and healthy and appreciates the partnership with donors.

Great to meet Gavi Board Chair @JMDBarroso at UNICEF to discuss the @Gavi alliance. UNICEF is a proud partner in the alliance that has played a role in vaccinating over a billion children in 25 years. A fully-funded Gavi can save the lives of countless more. #VaccinesWork

The ongoing synchronized polio campaigns in the Lake Chad Basin need to be effective as ending transmission of the poliovirus variant depends on it. We must ensure a coordinated response across the five countries and remain focused, determined and united to get the job done.
