The story of a nascent organisation @NCDCgov that found itself at the heart of an unprecedented pandemic. It is also a story about the dedicated #Nigerians that I met in public service. Plus the impact it had on us, & everyone around us with @VIhekweazu . A book we had to write.
“This book provides a compelling narrative of Nigeria’s COVID-19 response, as told through Chikwe’s unique lens as DG of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control. I commend this book for its exploration of Nigeria’s resilient response — a true testament to collaborative efforts,…

Every country needs this capacity to be prepared for epidemics and pandemics. In #SierraLeone, a @WHO-supported workshop is building national skills in genomic surveillance, which will help them to track, analyse and even anticipate public health threats.
Sierra Leone began a two-week WHO-supported workshop on 4 August 2025, focused on DNA sequencing and bioinformatics. The training, running through 15 August, aims to build sustainable national capacity in genomic surveillance, with a strong focus on mentorship and leadership.

Grateful for local volunteers 🙏 Often first on the scene and last to leave when disasters strike. They help ensure aid reaches those most in need, like here with the wheelchairs.
Kyaw Lin Oo and Pyi Pyi Mon are two of the many local volunteers assisting those affected by the #Myanmar 🇲🇲 earthquakes. They coordinate with @WHO and other partners to ensure assistive devices for differently abled people, especially wheelchairs 👨🏾🦽, reach those who need them
