Every morning, Ruby Middleton Forsythe would stand outside Holy Cross-Faith Memorial Episcopal School and ring an old fashion brass hand bell to summon her students to the one-room schoolhouse on Pawleys Island, SC. It was the only one available to Black children during Jim Crow.

Tonight was one of those full 360 degree moments. I was honored along with my brothers and colleagues @DrTorian and Dr. Rob Gore with the Valiant Service Award by the @brooklynnaacp at their Centennial Gala for our contributions to Black Brooklyn during the pandemic.

One of the greatest lessons I take away is the power of coordination and collaboration- until the pandemic we would have thought the scale achieved was impossible. Not only was it possible, but it was also, critical to saving lives.
