It’s not managing it by itself… but working closely with homeless / rehab and other services to ensure better access to support, temporary and longer-term accommodation, etc Less “revolving door” presentations to the ED due to lack of a safe discharge plan

The US is wringing its hands over Kirk’s death – but ignores the elephant in the room
theage.com.au
It shouldn’t really surprise us after all this time, but as an outsider in this country, the great American silence on the real problem is deafening to me.

Don’t want to make the data collection too annoying for busy clinicians, but want to make the most of the opportunity… Anything else that would be important to look at?

I’m keen to look at presence / absence of joint effusion However, interested in the opinions of those with more expertise… What else is reasonable to expect to be “routinely” documented by ED clinicians? Size / depth? Simple vs complex effusion? @EM_VATA @cianmcdermott

We have been lucky enough to get some funding to look at children presenting to the ED with an acute limp. For those with #POCUS expertise, we are also hoping to incorporate some research on its role in these children.

Politicians continually pay lip service to how wonderful and important palliative care is while inaction leads to patient and family distress on a daily basis. If you want more hospital type care in the community you also need more quality palliative care

Fantastic work! Congratulations to Doug and the whole @MonashNewborn team!
FONDUE trial led by Doug Blank out in @LancetChildAdol In very preterm infants, compared with fCPAP, the initial use of nCPAP at birth was more likely to result in CPAP success, avoiding the need for PPV. https://t.co/MclCyjJaXP

@salmannaeem217 @DrSimonCraig @cianmcdermott @EMAJournal @nzpetejones @AnselmWong1 @prof_cameron @WileyHealth @acemonline @cliffreid Completely agree. Right now - middle of winter - health system in crisis - 10mins extra per patient is not safe. But at other times it might be

ED #POCUS Is it a diagnostic test? An extension of the physical examination? Or a way of life?

@DrSimonCraig @cianmcdermott @EMAJournal @nzpetejones @AnselmWong1 @prof_cameron @WileyHealth @acemonline @cliffreid Agree. eFAST is used very badly. People need to be aware of LR of the investigations they use. E.g. CT AP being used for gallstone is another example. I think what we lack in clinical training is teaching clinicians about the accuracy of the investigations for said pathologies

"Persistent tachycardia" is commonly highlighted as a cause for concern in children who are unwell. It might help us recognise those who are at higher risk for sepsis or other serious conditions.

How long do YOU consider this tachycardia to be present for before you'd consider it "persistent"?
