Narrowly missed being flattened by @StagecoachSW bus driver at 8.14! I was partway down the narrow part of Exeter High Street (by mountain warehouse) when they decided to drive straight towards me, forcing me to slam on brakes and jump off leading to cuts and bruises.

Nice summary of environmental impacts of meat and the role of meat disgust in avoiding it
bbc.com
There are some surprising impacts of cutting out meat, even for a short period, which can carry on well beyond the end of abstinence.

Interesting but confusing evening listening to @michaelcaines @UniofExeter He preached plant-based eating and menus whilst praising (local regen) beef and lamb. Guess chefs (like many foodies) want to have their cake and eat it...

These events and petting farms perpetuate the "bucolic fairytales" @GeorgeMonbiot talks about. It would be nice if we were brave enough to really educate kids about the food system

Just read about 1600 Devon school kids attending this week's farmwise event. I'm all for kids learning "how their food is produced" but sadly, for this to be genuine they'd need to feed half of those newly hatched fluffy chicks live into a macerator
devon.gov.uk
More than 1,600 primary school children from across Devon got โFarmwiseโ on Tuesday and saw for themselves where our food comes from and how itโs made.
