I’m a GP. It took my own traumatic birth experience to realise the huge gaps in GP knowledge and training in Perinatal Mental Health. I want all GPs in our area to know about PMH, and support women in talking about their experiences #pmhpwhatispmh @PMHPUK #maternalMHmatters.

We place so much emphasis on managing physical complications of pregnancy, but sadly mental health related causes remain a leading cause of death in women during pregnancy or up to a year postnatal.
We are deeply saddened by the latest @MBRRACE report, which once again found maternal suicide to be a leading cause of maternal death. Our thoughts are with the women and families behind the statistics. More report findings and our full response: #mbrrace
