Fact: Gypsy/Travellers pay rent/council tax for their site pitches. Pitches that are just about enough to take a trailer and a motor with access to a 'shed' for cooking and washing. Weekly charges vary but some are on a par or indeed more than the weekly rent for social housing.

I've just taken a phone call from Ash Regan's office.
@AshReganALBA
She was not in Parliament today but has offered to meet at my convenience. That's how easy it is to show respect and compassion.
#TheLongWalkForJustice
Blocked by the Minister who is overseeing the 'research' on an apology for the Tinker Experiments and has said she'll be listening to victims when the 'research' is published. How will she do that if she's blocked me?
Finally arrived in Arbroath. Needing a cup of tea. Thanks for all your support it's not been easy. Please follow and share and let's hope
@Emma_Roddick
sees this and will arrange a meeting.

@STVNews
That's me heading to Ninewells [by car 😁]. I want to thank everyone for their ongoing support and kindness inc. Chloe who contacted me to offer a hair do early doors today and Emma who has offered to pay for a foot massage when I reach Edinburgh. Big love to all.💚
Still no official communication from
@Emma_Roddick
That's Dundee reached. Oncology app tomorrow so next stage is Thursday 10am from Tay Bridge.

My dad was a great fan of Burns so I guess it was fitting that he passed on this day. He taught me many things the main one being when you're in the right and the cause is just, don't back down. I miss his wise counsel every day.
#TheLongWalkForJustice
Had to turn around at the south of Burntisland too cold to carry on. Still over 6 miles today. Will add on the remaining to Wednesday's walk.
#TheLongWalkForJustice
Made good time today folks and that's me hopped on a bus back to the bridge. A rest up at the weekend and on the road again on Monday.
Let’s turn the thinking on its head – ask not why Gypsies and Travellers 'don’t fit' or won’t assimilate - ask how current systems and structures can accommodate/include their preferred approach to participation.
An update on the Crowdfunder: I have not used any of the existing funds for my
#LongWalkForJustice
therefore these and all other funds raised will go directly towards a memorial to the trafficked children.
#TheLongWalkForJustice
Here's a scan of the Herald piece. I am deeply indebted to Kevin McKenna for creating the opportunity for my family background to finally be heard in its own right rather than being boxed into the catch all terminology favoured by the government.

@Lenniesaurus
Hi folks, the language of Scottish Gypsy/Travellers is Cant. Words such as gadgie, cratur, scran, shan are a few more that are now commonly used. For those interested you can find out about Scotland's Gypsy/Traveller communities at our

8th January, the first day of the walk. I wasn't sure that I'd get as far as I have especially given the weather. But here I am and today will be crossing from the Kingdom of Fife into the Lothians and just a short walk from Edinburgh City. 👊
An official apology to Scotland's Gypsy Traveller community - for historic discrimination - would begin a "healing process" and "bring closure".
@DrLConnelly
reaches the end of 100 mile walk from Montrose to the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh today.
If Emma Roddick has not been jettisoned from the ministerial team then I'll know that the new FM's comment about wanting to speak to and represent all those living in Scotland was no more than empty rhetoric.
Morning, an update on my health. I had vice like chest pains yesterday so had an ECG which showed some coronary issues. The doc gave me nitrates to tide me over until all the further tests have been done. X-Ray and bloods today, exercise ECG next week and we'll see how it goes.
I've just read an article by someone who worked in the office of Emma Roddick. It's packed full of ageist insults. That's probably where the comments vis me being a stupid old woman started then.
#TheLongWalkForJustice
Thanks to everyone who has donated to the Crowdfunder. I will direct the funds toward a monument to all the children who were trafficked to the colonies. First though I'll need an offer of a bit of land overlooking the Atlantic to site it on.
#TheLongWalkForJustice
I want to thank everyone who has supported me on this walk. Disappointed but not surprised that the Minister couldn't or wouldn't do the right thing. I stand by what I said outside parliament today.
Just read the thread of *personal* attacks on
@mickbrick54
Disappointing to see another 'young person' attacking/trolling a woman simply because they disagree with her beliefs. Eva is a decent woman who is willing to put her neck on the line for others, she has my full support.
#TheLongWalkForJustice
With thanks to
@James_L_Walker
for this article. And as there is still no response from the Minister the walk is very much happening. Heartfelt thanks to all who are supporting me with this.
#TheLongWalkForJustice
Seriously feeling the impact tonight. But nothing that a good night's sleep and a day of rest won't sort out. Back on the road on Friday.

Folk have asked what my politics are. I've heard that some are saying this walk is a vendetta against the current ruling party, this is not true.
#TheLongWalkForJustice
Morning, folks. Another cold one but not the hard frost of yesterday. Feeling the impact of yesterday's walk but won't let that stop me. Arbroath to Dundee today. If you're driving past give me a toot, please. ✊🧙
As the FM will likely have to do a reshuffle I'm hoping he'll shuffle the equalities minister to the back benches where she can spend her time learning about the subject so that in future she can speak for herself rather than reading from a script. 😜
#TheLongWalkForJustice
Wow so many new followers. So many that X has stopped me following every one back. And so many tweets of support, I've tried to like all of them but if I've missed some please know I really appreciate you all.
A wee update on my health. The 7 day BP monitor returned an average of 154/92. I'm not overweight and I walk every day so the jury is still out on the cause. Meantime the GP has prescribed meds to bring the levels down. Once levels are reduced I'll be back at the campaigning.
#TheLongWalkForJustice
Although my issue is the trafficking of Gypsy Traveller children to the colonies, assimilation camps were as big a feature. Here's a piece I wrote on the subject of the one remaining camp.
Just had the doc confirm that I have a chest infection - it was inevitable I suppose given I was tramping down to the Parliament in sub-zero temps. Fingers crossed I don't end up in ICU as I did the last time when it turned out it was PCP pneumonia - chest x-ray tomorrow.
#GRTHM22
This wee plaque is just along the road from where I live. It was put there by the great-grandson of Betsy White. No pomp or circumstance, just put there as a quiet reminder.
#TheLongWalkForJustice
I'm resharing this as
@Emma_Roddick
has been economical with the truth again, informing Forth FM that she didn't refuse to meet me. 🤥
This is not true. For those of you who have not seen the letter the Minister sent me I am reposting it here. This is the second time that the Minister has *lied* about this.
#TheLongWaitForJustice
I meet the minister and her team at 10am tomorrow. I am not permitted to record the meeting but I will post what was discussed when the meeting is finished.

#TheLongWalkForJustice
Remember when the Minister said she had been told by officials not to meet to discuss the Tinker Experiments? Well, there is evidence [in the form of a response to an FOI] that no officials advised her thus.
#TheLongWalkForJustice
Had some snow here, but weather looks fine for tomorrow, Baltic, but fine. I'll be triple happed up for the walk. Leaving from Kirkcaldy, birth place of Adam Smith and me as it happens, 10am from the museum and art gallery.✊
Oor new front door. They've perfectly matched the stained glass to the original in the porch. What skills the pair of the have, great to see young people continuing the traditional crafts. Ignore the green surrounds - that's John's wee painting job for the weekend. 😁
#TheLongWalkForJustice
Huge thanks to Steve from
@thecourieruk
for meeting me at the southside of the bridge and taking some great pics for a feature piece they're running next week.
I just came on to check if anyone had asked for further information or maybe even the minister might have had a change of mind. But no, just a repeated offer to chat about anything *but* the Tinker Experiments and child trafficking. Till tomorrow, folks. ✊
I had a wee set back last night. Blood pressure up at 208 and palpitations. Hopefully get the MRI soon then will know the full extent of the damage caused by the heart attack and can get a plan for moving forward.
#TheLongWaitForJustice
Seeing as the minister is taking her team to today's meeting I've decided to take mine. We had a support meeting last night and decided that the road less travelled is the right road for us at this point in time.
1/ Not much to report. The meeting lasted 12 minutes [inc. introductions]. The Minister had two team members with her. The Minister and her team members reiterated that they would not discuss an apology until the desk research report was available [which will be in the summer].
Off to Ninewells for my first app with the endocrinologist to get moving on sorting out this adrenal tumour. Still nae MRI app but at least we're moving on something.
#TheLongWalkForJustice
You lose the sense of distance and time when you're on a long haul walk. It just came to me on the journey home how far I have a actually walked this week and the time I've spent on the road. Big love to all who are supporting me. 💚
Just catching up on the media coverage of
#TheLongWalkForJustice
Although I'm taking a wee break to get better I'm not going away. The campaign for an apology and a memorial for Canada's Little Slaves continues.

I'm taking advice [for once] and walking one day on one day off next week. So on the road, Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I won't be sitting back on the days off - I'll be doing interviews. First one is on Caledon Radio, Tues, 10.30am.
Our girls are in this group trafficked to Canada. Hundreds of Gypsy/Traveller children were trafficked. We think that they are the three girls beside the older woman 5th row up. Thanks to my grandfather's tenacity we were able to find them. Others were not so fortunate.
They especially weren’t told the assimilation “experiment,“ to rid Scotland of its gypsy problem, was designed by a German Nazi scientist brought over before the war. He measured heads and gave Scotland’s elite advice on the gypsy problem and scientific solutions
#TheLongWalkForJustice
- 23rd January at the parliament. Emma Roddick was inside but didn't show face. I'm hoping to be down for a different matter in April. I might give her door a wee chap when I'm there.
I will be setting out on 8th of January to walk from my home to the Scottish Parliament. I will stand outside the parliament until the Minister meets with me. Of course if she offers to meet with me before the 8th then I won't have to embark on such a punishing walk.
1/ 🧵I've had my FOI response. Loads of redactions vis names and 'free and frank discussions' but it is a track of all comms between officials and Emma Roddick and there is no record of them communicating with her vis meeting me at parliament so that was her decision.
1/ I've sent off an FOI asking for *all* communications between Emma Roddick and officials regarding their advice to her *not* to meet to discuss the child trafficking and an apology. Also any advice given not to meet me when I arrived at parliament on 23rd January.
#TheLongWalkForJustice
Change of route tomorrow. Having made good headway today, I'm doing Arbroath to Dundee tomorrow. Taking the walking path that runs along much of the A92 duel carriageway. I'll be at the golf course carpark at 8.30 and should reach Dobbie's around 1pm.
