Deep gratitude for @AlexaNGilmour who brought the petition to Parliament & stood up for ethical/ safe psychology standards. Cutting training by 75% puts kids, families, & vulnerable Canadians at risk. @ONPsych @fordnation @GendlinsMuse

Join us today at Nathan Philips Sq at 1-3pm to say NO to drastically reducing psychology standards. Ontarion's deserve quality mental health providers, not unqualified ones. @ONPsych @docamitay @CTVToronto @globalnews @CP24 @CBCNews @RebelNewsOnline @brianlilley

Psychologists make high-impact decisions every day. They assess complex conditions, offer informed guidance, and support systems that depend on accuracy and ethical judgment. https://t.co/ZhUNhCXxWl

In just 12 days, Psychologists gathered nearly 6 000 signatures on a petition against the changes in licensing standards for our profession. An incredible show of support. Today, the petition will be presented by an MPP at Queen’s Park. We have also received several messages

@DrJennchildMH @kpssreality @ONPsych @CTVToronto @RebelNewsOnline @CBCNews @globeandmail @nationalpost @GendlinsMuse @mario4thenorth @TheTorontoSun @TheFrankDomenic .@fordnation has ruined so many aspects of life in Ontario during his ruinous rule, but there is absolutely no sane rationale for *this* disastrous dictate. Yes, increase access to mental health care. No, do *not* make the providers of such care entirely ill-prepared/ineffective.

“During licensing exams, I’ve seen firsthand how additional training and supervision help clinicians grow into competent professionals. Without these safeguards, the public becomes the testing ground.” Vote NO to the changes https://t.co/ZhUNhCXxWl

@DrJennchildMH @ONPsych @CTVToronto @RebelNewsOnline @CBCNews @globeandmail @nationalpost @GendlinsMuse @mario4thenorth @TheTorontoSun @TheFrankDomenic On @awakepod, we spoke out about this terrible proposal—which is antithetical to everything that psychology/psychotherapy should stand for, especially adaptively serving and protecting the public.

Behind every psychological assessment is a person, a story, a family. Decisions about diagnosis, treatment, and support require advanced training and experience. Shortcuts put people at risk. Vote NO to the changes https://t.co/ZhUNhCXxWl

Clinical supervision, examinations, and rigorous training are not barriers. They are safeguards — the same safeguards used across healthcare to protect the public. We are calling for thoughtful, collaborative updates to training pathways, not shortcuts. https://t.co/ZhUNhCXxWl

Psychology is no different. These standards exist because the work is complex, sensitive, and deeply impactful. We are urging the CPBAO to keep strong, evidence-based training requirements in place. https://t.co/ZhUNhCXxWl

Regulation is supposed to protect the public. Lowering standards while demand for mental health care is rising is like solving a hospital staffing crisis by hiring unlicensed staff and hoping for the best - no one would call that “innovation" in #Ontario or anywhere else.
