Aligning eye tracking and free recall time series, we found that increased saccades predict episodic (vs. non-episodic) by 0.5 s. Just out in @CognitionJourn, led by Ryan Barker with the inimitable @DrJenRyan1

Honored that @DrJenRyan1 took the time to write a dispatch on our recent paper "Brain and eye movement dynamics track the transition from learning to memory-guided action". Its a truly excellent summary of the study:

These dynamic shifts help us make decisions and guide our actions. This research has important implications for how we think about the purpose of memory, and how we can support new learning across the lifespan. ✨ Check it out: https://t.co/g0Vicpcze2 4/4

Büchel et al’s combined EEG-eyetracking study shows that as learning progresses, brain patterns and eye movements shift from remembering the past to anticipating the future. 3/4

Earlier this fall, I had the honour of writing a Dispatch for @CurrentBiology in which I discuss exciting new findings from @BuchelPhilipp , Klingspohr, @MS_Kehl & @BStaresina (2024). Read the dispatch here: https://t.co/Nv36iyqsWx 2/4

I’m going to do some box-breathing and then figure out how to fight harder.
I want you to rest and grieve, but then I want this to energize you. Our founding fathers were very clear that power does not come from a country’s leaders but from its people. Organize, sign petitions, show up for your local elections.

If you would like to use the protocol that we used here and in our previous publications (e.g. Olsen, Yeung et al., Neurobiology of Aging, 2017), We have made the atlas available on @datadryad! https://t.co/vo4QNwlHy2
1️⃣We evaluated the effectiveness of automated segmentation (ASHS) in measuring MTL subregion volumes in older adults across cognitive statuses, comparing a custom atlas (ASHS-OAP) with an existing one. Results emphasize the utility of ASHS and the need for a harmonized atlas.

✨wow✨
5 years ago, on the heels of 28andMe, our team designed a new precision imaging experiment: scanning an individual’s brain throughout her entire pregnancy. We are excited to share that these findings are out today in @NatureNeuro!
