Finally, a Swede that has been quiet for years resurfaced, getting the Nobel prize. He restored much of the Neandertal DNA. It is also interesting that he was a secret extramarital son of a previous Swedish Nobel prize winner.

1/ Tesla is ~4 years ahead of other auto makers in self-driving silicon. This is Nvidia's roadmap. Pegasus is the L5 dev system. The problem is its 4 chips and 500 watts—too hot & expensive. Orin will shrink Pegasus down to 2 chips so it can be deployed in robo taxis.

Here's a comparison of Tesla's new self-driving chip vs. Nvidia's Xavier SoC. Tesla is ~2.5x in perf/watt, ~3.3x when adjusted for die area (proxy for cost). Tesla's real world performance will likely be much higher due to tight coupling of sw+hw+compiler.
