It's taken a while (around 10 years for some of the data!) but our dive into the physiological function of RBC circadian rhythms is out in @embojournal. The story began with observations of rhythm on a blot of RBCs even when there was no antibody... https://t.co/EdaSWjERbd

#CharlesDarwin tinha um profundo interesse em ritmos biológicos, muito além do que imaginávamos. Junto com @DrBatmo, conto essa história na @PNASNexus

In a perspective, Tiago Gomes de Andrade and Andrew D. Beale examined the writings and work of Charles Darwin to explore and share the eminent naturalist’s deep fascination with biological rhythms.

Given the population bias to the northern hemisphere but seemingly the vegetation bias to the south, I wonder if we have a seasonal global CO2 rhythm? Though perhaps there are too many factors acting in opposition to see such a rhythm - forest fires, household heating etc

Looking at this and seeing the daily rhythm in atmospheric CO2 which is at least in part due to the rhythms of plants as explained by @NASA. https://t.co/WQBSesz9UM

This global map shows concentrations of carbon dioxide as the gas moved through Earth’s atmosphere from January through March 2020, driven by wind patterns

I'm very privileged to be able to work here at @MRC_LMB. This article notes how the strategy, culture, people, ethos are central to the lab's success - I can fully attest to all this! https://t.co/ITsyNbZ0FY

Very much enjoyed going into my local primary school for Science Week #BSW24. With the theme of "Time" I just had to get involved! I managed to link the @ScienceWeekUK resources on pendulums to circadian clocks via a demo of coupled metronomes - much fun was had 🧑🔬🕒

In #SRBR2024 #Wikithon, we'll be looking at editing chronobiology pages. In this paper, @rona_av @omerbenj examine edits to "Circadian clock" and "Circadian rhythm" and reveal how arguments and paradigm shifts are encoded in the pages' metadata: https://t.co/w6fyB74XXu

Just over 3 months until the #SRBR2024 Trainee Day #Wikithon. In the next few weeks, on Thursdays, we'll be exploring chronobiological precidents on @Wikipedia. Today from the archives - circadian patterns of Wikipedia editing activity: https://t.co/gS3vnFxdtT

Lol. Lol at this whole thread but particularly at this salary bit which threatens basically all scientific research done in this country. Please can you come up with some useful policies?
We’re increasing the minimum earnings threshold for skilled workers by 48% to £38,700, encouraging businesses to look to British talent first and invest in their workforce.

A tweet back to circadian biology: John and Andrew @DrBatmo were interviewed on the EMBO podcast about the story behind our recent paper on physiological function of red blood cell rhythms. Link below
In the new #EMBOPodcast, John O'Neill and Andrew Beale of @MRC_LMB talk to us about how a mysterious band on a Western blot led to a fascinating paper on circadian rhythms in red blood cells.

For fuck's sake, stop stoking a stupid culture war and come up with at least one policy that makes lives better instead - preferably one looking more than 15 mthss ahead. Science is NOT in danger from "woke ideology", which is a bullshit invented culture war concept anyway.
NEW: Conservatives are safeguarding scientific research from the denial of biology and the steady creep of political correctness. @michelledonelan announces plans to depoliticise science at #CPC23
