We have to start by figuring out what is needed by the students who are most vulnerable...But what we do is start with students who have very few obstacles, and then we end up backing into our strategies to address equity rather than equity at the center.

This is spot on. "Integrate ongoing practice and review into the teaching of current grade-level content, instead of disrupting it." Trying to reteach all of last year in Sept-Oct never worked and isn't going to start working now.
