🧵The continued persecution of climate whistleblowers who are motivated to action by their desire to protect public health highlights the ethical and moral failure of the GMC to respond appropriately to what is accepted to be the greatest public health threat of the 21st century.

🧵The UN special Rapporteur for climate defenders has expressed his concern at the treatment of UK medical climate activists and has written to the UK government to raise concerns about Dr Hart’s treatment -

🧵The @TheBMA passed two motions this year at ARM condemning disciplinary action against medical activists and adding that the BMA would “…continue to regard any doctors erased from the register for non-violent protest as professional colleagues in good standing”.

🧵The GMC prosecution has previously argued that conviction for climate protest is de facto evidence of misconduct that negatively impacts the confidence of the public in the profession. They insist context and motivation are irrelevant

🧵This is the third tribunal convened so far to discipline climate activist doctors, with previous tribunals resulting in the suspension of retired GP’s Dr Sarah Benn and Dr Diana Warner.
