Can #pocus help in the management of patients with sickle cell disease? Yes. Take this case, a young male presenting to the hospital with pain crisis in legs and chest, and one day of low grade fever, found to be SARS-CoV2 positive. Initial chest x-ray clear:

https://t.co/sxLnyrDfnn Nearly finished with fellowship, and just now ran into this article from @HamidShokoohiMD et al. What a beautiful conceptualization of how to teach POCUS! Thanks to the authors for such a clean approach to applying POCUS clinically.

3-parchment paper. Gel sticks to a lot of things. Parchment paper is not one of those things 4-cooking spray. Makes removal from molds infinitely easier 5-scissors 6-pliers (if doing vascular phantoms. More to follow on that) 7-pot holders/oven mitts 8-masking tape

First, Supplies. 1- Heat source: can use pans in an oven. I opted for a $30 small crock pot. 2-Something to work the gel with. I scrounged up an old table knife and a metal skewer. Between the two, I was able to stir, spread, move air bubbles, and pry gel from molds.

Working on ultrasound phantoms the last couple of weeks. While there is a lot of info out there, I found myself pulling tips from varied places. Thought I’d share… Components I’ll break down further over the next couple of weeks: 1. Supplies 2. Molds 3. Media 4. Targets

ICU stories (a brief one): One hour before the end of the am shift, u walk around in the ICU to make sure thinks look OK before u type your sign-out note. You spot the resp therapist & the nurse bagging the pt in Rm 306. From the hallway, u see the monitor: HR 160, RR/45, Sat 70%

If there was one person I could play like, it’d be Jerry Lee. But I can’t, so I try to play like Elton. Pulverized. Great word. What a life story….

Without Jerry Lee Lewis, I wouldn’t have become who I am today. He was groundbreaking and exciting, and he pulverized the piano. A brilliant singer too. Thank you for your trailblazing inspiration and all the rock ‘n’ roll memories. #RIP

I might be late to the game on this, but the "insert screen recording" feature on PowerPoint is a revelation when putting an echo presentation or logbook case together (apologies for the video quality). Easier than saving/inserting AVI files and the quality of playback is good.❤️
