When people say Ukraine was invaded because it wasn't neutral enough, and you point out that it was, the response is always, "Right, but it was clearly trending West." Reveals the game. It's not about 'neutrality' it's about having vibes Putin arbitrarily decides he's ok with.
Let me repeat this: Ukraine was not only effectively neutral (not a member of a military alliance) but it was STATUTORILY neutral (banned by law from being such a member) between 2010 and the end of 2014. While Ukraine was STATUTORILY neutral, Russia invaded Crimea and Donbas.
