We’ve a potential Elite 8 match up between the Directors’ Cup favorites as @TexasVolleyball and @StanfordWVB earn the #3 and #6 overall seeds. Lots of volleyball between then and now but the potential is there for an excited matchup.

Texas earns a very important 1st point in the Cotton Holdings Lone Star Showdown. The score is now: Texas - 1 Texas A&M - 4

Good question regarding the Cotton Holdings Lone Star Showdown. Yes, in sports with a regular season match up, that is the only contest that counts. In some sports (think cross country), Texas and A&M face off in the SEC Championship and that result is what counts.
@Direct_Cupdates Does only regular season games count? Texas volleyball beat A&M last night to advance to the SEC volleyball tournament final

The first champion of the 25-26 season is the @Wolfpack_TFXC womens CC team. That’s 100 directors’ cup points for the pack.

The 2025-2026 Directors’ Cup spreadsheets are prepped and ready to go. This weekend we will see 3 NCAA champions crowned (M&W cross country and field hockey). I’ll be posting the first top 10 of the season once competition wraps up!

Doing some prep work for the Directors’ Cup and came across something interesting. Women’s wrestling is now a NCAA sanctioned sport. Mostly D2 and D3 schools with the only D1s not being perennial DC top 10 programs so little impact in DC scoring expected.

No NCAA championships have been completed but we know 3 results for Texas. W Soccer - 0 points (required sport) W Cross country - 0 points M Cross country - 27 points W CC could be dropped and these are 3 of Texas worst sports, but this is not a great start.

I did a bad job of explaining and labeling this chart. Schools can only lose points due to required sports. This shows how many points were lost last season because of the 5 required sports. I also added a column to show how many would be last if football was also included.
We talk a lot about the 5 sports required to be included on each teams final score sheet. How much of an impact do they make? Only 9 teams were impacted by the 5 required sports in the 24-25 season. What if football were a required sport? Only 6 teams would be further impacted.

To balance the genders of required sports, Football is the obvious next addition. Beyond that, there is no doubt that College Football is the most popular college sport in the nation. To add legitimacy and intrigue to the Directors' Cup, Football needs to be a required sport!

Required sports are included based on the team sports with the highest amount of participation: M Basketball - 364* W Basketball - 348* Soccer - 335* Volleyball - 332* Baseball - 299* Softball - 293 Football - 263 The top 5 are included. Football would be the 3rd men's sport.

A great question from @ontexasfootball, how has Texas scored in the fall over the last 5 years? Texas is not usually strong in the Fall. Scores have been up and down and don't correlate with final score very well. On track for 200+ this fall but a 0 from W soccer would hurt.

Always great to see the top 2 universities in the Director’s Cup face off head to head on the court. Texas comes away with the win. I would not be surprised to see these 2 volleyball powerhouses face off deep in the NCAA bracket when DC points are on the line!

You never know where a random hobby will take you. It’s been an honor to be a main source of Director’s Cup information for fans and athletic departments across the country. And it was a huge honor to be invited to be on the field during the trophy presentation this weekend!
