The case for Nathan Eovaldi for Cy Young. Evo is getting disrespected for not having qualifying innings. yet. Let him go 7-8 innings each start and he will have the innings he needs! Then we will see what his 1.38 gets him. Check out these stats:

to closer? Automatically solves that position and reduces Degroms workload so he stays at 160 or so innings. Win-win in my book. Yes, we would not have him in the rotation for a playoff hunt but I'm thinking bigger picture here.

A 37 year old who hasn't thrown this much in 6 years. I'm not advocating completely shelving him but lets cut back his innings drastically. There was talk of that is spring training and I feel the time has come. Plus, we could solve two issues with one move. Why not move him. .

Its time to have a discussion about Degrom. He has been incredible this year. No doubt about that! But consider this. he has now thrown more innings since 2019! He has shown no ill effects from the TJ that he has rebounded from. However, this is a huge uptick in innings for.

So, Nasty Nate Eovaldi gets AL Pitcher of the month for June with a miniscule .59 era. In his last 13 games he had an era of 1.0. What did he do for an encore? In his 14th game, HE LOWERED IT! 0 runs in 8 innings! Just. WOW!.
