We know the toll our job has on us all as individuals and coupled with low morale and under-resourced stations, it is no wonder our members experience stress and anxiety at a higher level than most professions. If you suspect someone is struggling, check in and #AskTwice.

This, I would venture to suggest, is what happens when large numbers of police officers no longer believe they are going to be supported (by the press, by politicians, by some members of the public, by some of their bosses) for simply doing their jobsā¦
In case anyone was wondering what has been happening to the use of arrest powers in London: Metropolitan Police officers made 15% fewer arrests in 2023 than in 2019 despite having 15% more officers.
