Just had my faith in humanity boosted: young chap who came round to collect the old loft insulation that's just been removed worked quickly and efficiently and then, at his own suggestion, took all my recycling bins down the steps for tomorrow's collection - what a star!

I was lucky enough to see Patricia Routledge on stage in London performing Alan Bennett monologues and in Carousel and The Corn is Green. She was great as Hyacinth and Hetty, but her talents went so much further . Rest in Peace dear lady.

The government appears to be sending out a clear message to over 50's: step out of paid workforce to care for elderly parents, partner etc and you'll be on your own / back of the queue when you try to re-enter the workforce to bridge the gap between end of caring and #SRP age.
