It's insane that you could ask a literal five year old about problems facing the world and they would know about global warming, while university-educated adults are totally oblivious to future population collapse. We need to do more to make people aware of what's to come.

You hear a lot about ‘late stage capitalism’ on here and its imminent demise. Imo capitalism will keep going until the 2060s when low fertility rates really hit home globally. Declining labour availability and less wealthy consumers will radically change the economic landscape.

This is a very positive announcement. But we should go further; loss of free time is a big cause of low fertility rates. Parents should get one evening p/w of free childcare to give them time off for personal leisure.
From today, parents in England are entitled to 30 hours of government funded childcare. This will save you £7,500 on average.

The Swiss apprenticeship system is great. It directly puts a large percentage of young people effectively into employment straight out of school rather than pushing everyone into university courses which don’t align with employment opportunities.

Even within low-fertility countries, some groups are declining much faster than others. Spare a thought for Native Americans, who have never recovered demographically from the era of colonisation and now have the second lowest TFR in the US bar Asians.
