I would love for some people to understand that we didn’t ask to have to speak out about this. We would have loved to just be teens and have the politicians fix legislation, but they haven’t. They’ve been complicit in these tragedies, and we’ve had no choice but to take action.
To be honest? At this point i’d LOVE to do something as simple as homework. However, now I have to try and fix a broken system so children can safely go to school. Something that the rest of you haven’t done.
WATCH: Florida state Rep. Elizabeth Porter dismisses Florida shooting survivors calls for increased gun control.
"Do we allow the children to tell us that we should pass a law that says no homework?"
I should be celebrating my last day of high school, but instead my heart is broken to hear of the tragedy at Santa Fe. We cannot let this continue to be the norm. We cannot.

This is so very disappointing. Our meetings in private were incredibly civil, and we were working on compromise. Defamation of us can only damage your chances of getting re-elected.
The debate after
#Parkland
reminds us We The People don’t really like each other very much.We smear those who refuse to agree with us.We claim a Judea-Christian heritage but celebrate arrogance & boasting. & worst of all we have infected the next generation with the same disease
To every one of you asking how you can support the movement: If you can, when you can, vote. Vote those taking money from the NRA out of office. Vote on every level. Keep corrupt politicians from EVER making it to the national level. That is your responsibility.
I’d give up every single bit of recognition all of us have to have them back. To have Feis back, waving to me every day. To have Guac back, sitting next to him in class. I’d give it all up. We all would.
2 months ago today, our lives were forever changed. 2 months ago today, we lost a piece of ourselves. 2 months ago today, we lost our 17. Do not forget. Do not let it fade.
Hey,
@SpeakerRyan
, over 90% of American people support universal background checks. Sounds pretty simple to me. When are you bringing it to the floor?
Aw, sad! Being a woman means I’m afraid to be alone at night, afraid to drink from an uncovered cup, afraid to say no to a man, and MANY other things. But it’s so sad that men are afraid they can’t sexually harass women anymore!!
BREAKING: Under the new federal rule, bump stock owners will be required to destroy or surrender the devices to authorities. Members of the public will be given 90 days to turn in or otherwise discard their bump stocks.

The only positive about these backpacks is that maybe, hopefully, the stigma around periods will be removed. Also, that Cameron now knows how expensive tampons are.
Something we want to stress is that the most important thing you can do is be educated, and VOTE. Don't let others tell you how to vote, learn and decide for yourself. Simply put,
#VoteForOurLives
Today, 1 month after of the day that changed our lives forever, we will join the school walkout. We will join the walkout for every one of those 17, and for every other victim of gun violence. We will join for those that are still here. We will join for you.
#NeverAgain
Today will be 6 years since the shooting at Sandy Hook.
It will also be 10 months since the shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School.
We share their pain, we share their grief.
They should be here today. But they’re not.
So today, we honor them. Honor them with action.
Thank you to Speaker Ryan and every other lawmaker we spoke to. We spoke, you listened, but now it is time for action. We hope to see you follow through.
I am grateful to the students of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School for sharing their story with me today. We had an important discussion about how to keep our kids and our schools safe.
For all of those saying this was a waste: you were not there. you don’t have to face walking back into a building where you KNOW people were shot and killed. this is the right thing to do. it’s not fair to make us go back there.
#BREAKING
: Broward County Public Schools is reportedly planning to tear down the freshman building at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School where 17 people were killed in Wednesday's mass shooting.
You know what? I’m goddamed tired of being accused of profiting off of the shooting at my school.
This isn’t profit. It’s pain, it’s hard work. Hard work to save lives and do what’s right.
We didn’t choose this path. We became leaders because we had to be.
fucking explain to me how we peacefully protested all day and then the cops show up in their RIOT GEAR, and after one water bottle hits them start firing rounds, launching smoke canisters, and tear gassing the crowd.
If you have a moment today, look up the gun tracing modernization act. It takes an archaic paper system for tracking guns back to owners and makes it digital. It’s absolutely necessary in the fight against gun violence.
If Ted would like to join me for one of the many emotional breakdowns I’ve had, sobbing uncontrollably in front of the memorials of my dead friends, he’s welcome to.

Longtime

Board member Ted Nugent just said this about Parkland gun violence survivors: "These poor children, I’m afraid to say this and it hurts me to say this, but the evidence is irrefutable, they have no soul."
Waiting for you to contradict him.
Reminder that tomorrow school starts at MSD, and that it will be so very difficult for every student returning. Please, send them love and strength.
Don’t forget about them.
It’s insane to think that a month ago,
@RepTedDeutch
and
@DanDaley
were at my school to discuss politics. Now, they stand with us as we create change. Thank you to every politician that stays involved with students, and I highly encourage the rest of you to do the same.
Back in smelly NYC again for the pizza and Christmas trees. Maybe if you spent more time cleaning up the streets instead of confiscating guns, they wouldn't smell like piss.
TRUMP asked about kids worried about going to school after mass shootings:
“Go and really study hard and someday you’ll grow up and maybe be president of the United States or do something else that’s fantastic. They have nothing to fear, they have nothing to worry about."
BREAKING: Five people are dead after a string of Louisiana shootings, authorities say. The 21-year-old suspect is accused of killing his parents and three others.
I love when people accuse me for speaking on the behalf of only popular people like I wasn’t having friday night puzzle parties with my friends before this.
A bill preventing the release of 3D gun blueprints was just blocked. Citizens should NOT have access to these untraceable, unstoppable weapons. This is a threat to our safety. This is a threat to our country.
One of the most damaging things I see in the media is that women must be impenetrable to be strong.
They aren’t allowed to fear, allowed to be vulnerable, without having that title stripped away.
Strength is in the humanity of us. Women can be strong without being perfect.
Kinda jealous of everybody who gets to vote in Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Washington, and Ohio today.
Being able to directly influence your democracy?? Hell yes.
Elections are important but, no matter who wins, 99.9999 percent of your daily life and existence will be completely unaffected by the results today. Just a bit of perspective.
#IWillMarch
to show that I cannot and will not be silenced. To show that I do everything for those that we lost and those that survived. I march for myself and for every student.
There are people with far, far more offensive racial views than Donald Trump or Tucker Carlson. If Trump and Tucker are "racists," then what do you call those other people?
Once again, my heart hurts and all of me is so angry.
We cannot accept this as our reality. We cannot accept violence, or hate.
Fight for Jacksonville. Send them your love, your passion, and your change.

, your sisters have a message for you: we believe you. We call on Senators to demand a full, fair, and trauma-informed investigation.
So, today is the 14 month anniversary of the shooting. Yet, when I woke up, I didn’t even know it was the anniversary. Part of me feels guilty about healing. About the pain not being so present anymore. Part of me is relieved. Part of me doesn’t know how to feel.
Last night i got the most sleep I’ve gotten in days. To all my peers , please take care of yourselves. We’re still grieving, we need to take a break every once in a while.

Things we’re leaving behind in 2019:
-Kaitlin Bennet
-Louis CK
-all other rapists and sexual harassers
-NRA funded politicians
-Mike Pence
-Nazism as a “valid” viewpoint
-meninism
keep the list going!
Kavanaugh said during his hearing, “My family and my name have been totally and permanently destroyed.” But here he is 40 days later: elevated to the Supreme Court with his wife still standing next to him. Meanwhile, Dr. Blasey Ford has moved 4x and is *still* receiving threats.
Today I, along with many others, took some time to step back and grieve. We have thrown ourselves into this as much as we but we still have tears to shed, still have sorrow to share. We are reminded just how much this is for those 17, and for every other student out there.
