Every year, guns kill 570 Asian Americans and 60 Pacific Islanders. Most of those deaths are suicides. At the AAPI Against Gun Violence summit in Chicago, we confronted what usually gets left out: the data, the grief, and the patterns this country refuses to face.

Chicago, last night. 18 people shot. 4 dead. No breaking news banner. No national outcry. Just sirens in the distance, then silence. Blood washed off the sidewalk before sunrise. We live in a country that eats its young and calls it freedom. Happy 4th.

This kind of research is how we learn what actually works to stop gun violence and what doesn’t. Without it, lawmakers are making decisions in the dark. Truth saves lives.

New Jersey tried to cut $1M in funding for the Gun Violence Research Center at Rutgers. We wrote letters to state leaders and made it clear: you can’t defund life-saving gun research while gun violence keeps killing kids. According to The Trace, the cut would have gutted.

Every regulation they slash dishonors those we’ve lost and every inspector they cut puts more families at risk of losing everything. Shame.

What kind of ‘freedom’ celebrates making it easier for killers to get guns? . Here’s what real freedom looks like: Kids going to school without fear. Families attending concerts and festivals without running for their lives.

BREAKING: Trump’s DOGE is slashing over 50 gun regulations and reducing the number of ATF inspectors. While families gather to celebrate July 4th, DOGE is making them less safe by dismantling regulations that prevent mass shootings, keep guns from dangerous individuals, and hold.

When @RepGlennIvey asked AG Pam Bondi if she still supports the gun safety measures she backed after Parkland during yesterday’s House Appropriations hearing, she dodged the question. She claims she "lived the Parkland shooting" but won't commit to preventing the next one.
