The Specialty Rice Breeding Program exhibited its breeding for high-amylose, jasmine & basmati types during the Texas Rice Festival at Winnie, TX last October 3-4, 2025. Displayed were samples of the rice grain types bred by the SRBP and a video on the Rice Grain Types in the US.

The rice delphacid situation in TX continues to worsen, especially in Brazoria, Fort Bend, Wharton, & Victoria counties. This is the first widespread issue we've had in main crop. Blowups occur quick, especially after rain. Currently, our best rec is Endigo ZCX at 6 oz/A.
