This just sparked a question to myself. While I have broader thoughts on this, here is how building permits in Pittsburgh (city) compare to Cleveland (city) over the last 15 years. Note Cleveland is 360K population (20% > Pittsburgh btw). Just one bit of data for sure, but fwiw

Spoke to real estate developer yesterday (and I am only sharing because I have heard this from several sources) and he said word among developers with experience in multiple cities is that Pittsburgh has one of the most arduous permitting processes of them all

This election is too important to sit out. I want a mayor who is for the community, not the landlords and developers. That's why I am voting for @gainey_ed on Tuesday May 20th. #GaineyForMayor

Under the Gainey administration, Pgh has seen more affordable housing built than any mayoral administration in the last twenty years! Mayor Gainey = More Housing

Councilwoman @DebGrossPGH supports my re-election because we've "rebuilt playgrounds, bridges, sidewalks, and public assets that had languished for decades." As Deb says, "If you want a Mayor who will stand up to profiteers and fight for the people, Vote Ed Gainey!"

WTF is a provisional ballot ? “Election officials may ask that voter to vote a provisional ballot. A provisional ballot records your vote while the county board of elections determines whether it can be counted.”
