The opportunity for Brownell to reload and not rebuild next year was to let these guys walk and find ready-made talent in the portal. He’ll have to hit big there, but I prefer this avenue to hoping the current roster develops significantly.

Quite a bit of basketball attrition today, opening up plenty of space for Brownell to improve the roster in the portal. Probably more still to come, and all for the most success next season and future imo.

This loss to Louisville will actually benefit the Tigers next week -extra rest, practice without D. Hunter, and go into the tournament pissed off. That being said, the ceiling for the NCAAT goes from Final Four to Sweet 16 without Hunter imo.

Clemson likely re-signed top talent and signed portal additions based upon anticipated revenue sharing figures. Now there could be a sizable gap(~$10 mil) that Clemson has to fill with NIL $$$ outside of what the university can provide. Quite the bomb drop.

Significant news out today from the US Dept. of Ed, which classifies future revenue distributions from a school to an athlete for his/her NIL rights as “financial assistance,” which “must be made proportionately available to male and female athletes” or risk violating Title IX.

Significant news as Clemson works to stay ahead of the revenue generation curve in the new era.

Clemson is set to hire Atlanta Hawks SVP of Global Partnerships Michael Drake, @SBJ has learned. Drake will serve as the CEO of Clemson Ventures — a new vertical that applies a pseudo-pro model to its athletics operations centered on revenue generation.

Legit buzz regarding Clemson hiring Tom Allen as DC. Why it makes sense: - P5 HC+DC experience + coaches LB’s - Aggressive defense with exotic looks(ala Coach V) - Coached with Luke at Ole Miss - Known for his profound Christian values - Players love him

Everyone's anxious for an announcement, but I think there are moves being made behind the scenes to benefit all parties. My best guess is Brent and Dabo work this out to where Oklahoma hires Wes, Wes doesn't get "fired", no buyout for Clemson, and Dabo is able to make a change.

This is pretty significant news considering I expected Randall to go into the portal and for Clemson to consider taking a RB in the portal. Guess that’s all moot now.

Swinney says coaches moved Randall to RB after ACC title game. The best thing he does is run with the the ball. He says Randall will transition to RB this spring.

My gut says outside as evidenced by the trend of Eason, Rumph, Luke, but wouldn’t be that surprising to see Reed or Conn get a shot either.

@DearOldClemson Now the question is…will Dabo hire from outside or promote from within??

Dabo lost one of the most experienced DC’s in Brent Venables and hired an unproven analyst without any on-field coaching experience to coach LB’s and be the DC. We can hate on Goodwin, but he was put in a near impossible situation from the get go.

Between lack of portal takes to fill talent gaps and questionable hires, there was always going to be some pain until Dabo resolved said issues. Portal takes are finally happening and a new DC in 2025 should really help to turn the page.

On the bright side, heck of a fight from the offense in the second half, especially without a real running game. Best game on Cade’s career in orange if you ask me. Some optimism as we turn the page to the 2025 season.

Critical third and long and you rush TWO?!?!?!

Get a decent gain on first down and then run wildcat with two backup RB’s? What?

Run to the left side of Clemson’s defensive line, find success. Rinse, repeat.

@DearOldClemson You nailed it w Ewers… with a clean pocket and no pressure, their speedy receivers get open. If you pressure him AT ALL… he either throws a bad ball or gets hit a lot.

This is a great thread breaking down some of the intricacies within the #HookEm defense by @DearOldClemson! 🧵 #Clemson faces a big challenge in short yardage situations today — I’d love to see the tush push on 3rd + 4th & 1 situations today (which I’ve begged for all year).

Previous clip was third and 1, this clip is fourth and 1. TX AM tries to go right up the middle against the D-line and gets blown up both times. Short yardage is tough to come by. https://t.co/tsx5jzPsf5

Quick keys for Clemson: - Front 4 win at point of attack - LB's communicate with eye candy - No explosives over the top - Pressure an immobile Ewers to create sacks and turnovers

Ewers gets confused thinking its man coverage and throws the pick. https://t.co/ucnNmRzNqg

Falls away from the pressure while throwing, ball takes forever to get there and turns into a pick. https://t.co/w6g8ysmRbl
