Great work by @FSEM_UK and @sportengland in producing the report on the balance of risk in prescribing activity . The balance is very much in favour of activity

'Rather than jumping in with suggestions about how to become more active, time spent getting people to talk about things like what’s important to them, how they might best get started,or who they might like to do an activity with can make them more likely to change their behaviour'

#FallsPreventionWeek #FallsPreventionAwarenessWeek #falls A loss of strength, confidence and a decreased ability to balance arise from not moving enough. We can't simply wait for patients to become 'safer' or 'lower risk'...... They need to move asap, even in #hospital.

Restoring falls rehab programmes is challenging in these times but we can achieve effective uptake & adherence with new blended delivery approaches using face to face, telephone, virtual and educational leaflets.

Giving out leaflets is not enough to encourage older people to exercise. Setting person-centred goals, building relationships across pathways and addressing socioeconomic barriers also necessary #BGSconf

Care home residents are 3 times more likely to fall than people living in the community. Residents continue to fall, and in the current climate it is difficult to support #carehome staff to prevent, modify and manage #falls
