Transplanting an orchard! Today we're digging up 15 year old pear trees, for replanting in a new home. Thanks to Bill, the best digger operator in the world! Looked after properly, these replanted trees might even resume fruiting next year. #IrishFruit

This is how it's done. Very frustrated w our local growers who picked these more than a month ago. One of the greatest apples of the past 300 years.
Ashmead's Kernel is still hanging on our trees. An incredibly delicious apple with unique flavour and texture. It needs to be left long and late on the tree, before harvesting, and then stores well for many months. #IrishApples #LocalFruit

I've admired this unusual trio of weeping wych elms for many years, as I pass them while driving along the coast road by Clontarf. I've also wondered at how they've escaped Dutch Elm Disease. Recently while passing, my heart sank as I saw 2 of them suddenly afflicted and dying.

Our 2024 Rondo looking like a modest crop, vines extremely healthy, grapes just starting "veraison", (the ripening process), which continues for the next 2 months, as the grapes continue to grow, turn black, and get sweet and fully ripe. #IrishWine
