3/ We studied #FFA4, a receptor that detects fatty acids. Surprise: #FFA4 isnโ€™t just on the cell surface. It sits inside fat cells, right next to #lipid droplets (the fat stores in #adipocytes)!

2/ Fat cells store energy as fat. When the body needs energy, they break down fat into free fatty acids โ€“ a process called #lipolysis. But lipolysis must be tightly controlled. Too much fat release can lead to #diabetes and #heart #disease.
