This is one of the most interesting free school lunch papers - when districts implement universal free school lunch, it puts competitive pressure on grocery stores, resulting in lower food prices for *everyone* even if they don't directly benefit from school lunches

When schools offer free meals for everyone, local families reduce grocery spending. Large chains respond by dropping prices, amplifying benefits to the broader community, from @jessiehandbury and Sarah Moshary https://t.co/oYepuQ0rZR

A few weeks ago, parents, activists and educators in a red state where Republicans hold a legislative supermajority successfully beat back an anti-history (CRT) law, & yet I saw no national coverage of it at all. This says something important about media.

I just became the first U.S. Secretary of Education to call on President Biden to unilaterally cancel student loan debt. Can I count on you to retweet and help me hit 35k followers so we can spread the word?

Let me get this straight: 60-vote threshold was carved up 160 times so senators could pass Trump tax cuts, gas bill & Supreme Ct Justices but when it comes to voting rights, “traditions” & “comity” mean you hug it tight, throw the voters under the senate desks & go home? No way.

When I was in Iraq during my first tour in 2003, I spent countless hours sitting with my local villagers talking about their experiences and futures. Over chai one day my primary village sheik, Dr. Mohammed, and I discussed the meaning of “freedom.”

In this case, the 51 senators blocking the proposal represent about 42 million fewer Americans than the 49 members who support it. Normalizing minority rule in the era of universal suffrage, as conservatives want to do, is a recipe for instability.

It’s a weird feature of our time that 51 members of a 100-seat legislative body blocking a proposal is considered undemocratic

1. So you're probably seething about the judge in the Kyle Rittenhouse case saying lawyers can't call the 3 people he shot "victims," while there's a chance they can be called "rioters" or "looters" Did you wonder what's up with this guy? I did. Buckle up
