I am abolishing Police and Crime Commissioners. For over a decade, they have overseen our police forces but have failed to provide the sufficient democratic oversight they were set up to do. A change that will save us millions and see money reinvested into frontline policing.

I welcome changes made by this Labour Government today to Police and Crime Commissioners. Not only will there be considerable financial savings, it opens the door for more cooperative working between police and local authorities. This is an important change for Hemel 👇

In Canada for the G7 Foreign Ministers meeting working with our closest partners to tackle some of the world’s greatest challenges, including Ukraine, Sudan, getting aid into Gaza, and economic security. The UK’s foreign policy is delivering for security at home.
