Great talk today by @charlesloganmd @NM_Lung at the Western Thoracic on the opportunity for surgeons to help improve transitions of care for adjuvant treatment after lung cancer surgery. A sign of a good talk is the line at the mic to continue the discussion! #tssmn #wtsa2022

Straight to the floor for me. Priority order in our household: baby > mom > older kids > dogs > kids electronics > dad. 😥.
@ElliotServaisMD @maraantonoff @tomcnguyen @GloorLoor @archerm2 @rvanharen You're lucky enough to get the side chair?? I'd be crammed into one of those little front chairs, or laying across the top of the cubbies. 🤣.

Also, it’s ok to do the case yourself even if you have a trainee with you. Just be honest with them up front and set the expectations. #CTCareers.
T4 #ctcareers. Even if you are in teaching institution, I would try and do as many cases on your own early on (not with trainees). You need to build up your skill as an attending. Hard to be a great teacher your first year or two in practice.

T4. Don’t try to know everything just because you are an attending. Asking for help is a sign of strength and makes your partners and the rest of the hospital community trust you more. #CTCareers.

T2) I think a lot of us fight this urge to stay at the hospital until 7 or 8 because anything less feels wrong. You will@have plenty of these days in the future, but when you start and have time, use it wisely. It’s ok to leave the hospital when it’s light outside! #CTCareers.

T1) I took about 4 hours off and really don’t recommend that approach. You need time to clear your head and acknowledge the transition in a meaningful way. Break up the marathon! #CTCareers.

Thoracic Surgeon @NorthwesternMed still trying to figure out this whole ‘adulting’ thing myself. Hopefully you can enlighten us @BrianMitzman! Looking forward to a great chat! #CTCareers.
We will get started in a few minutes. Please take a moment to introduce yourselves. If you are just listening, please tweet “#CTCareers” once so we know you are out there!.

T4: I think this is really crucial. You have to work through the stages of grieving from peer review, but the end result is better science and more success with funding.
Also don’t be afraid to apply for grants that seem a bit out of reach. The feedback you get can help tremendously with fine tuning your research and getting funded down the line. #CTCareers.
