Great start to our @edintfest 2025. A Ravel Piano Concerto of crystalline beauty & virtuosity from Bruce Liu, working in sympathetic partnership with the woodwind principals of the NCPA Orchestra. He seemed suitably self-effacing in the Ravel but more demonstrative in his encore.

Back in Edinburgh for the Festival and our first visit to the re-opened @Filmhouse. I have to say they have made very good use of my modest donation. The place looks great with echoes of the art deco golden age of cinema. Will have to come back and see a film while we are here!.

That Bastard Puccini @ParkTheatre is an enjoyable, amusing and slightly sentimental tale. The author wears his operatic knowledge lightly and it’s not heavy-handed in the contrast between talent and genius. Indeed, it hints that genius needs the merely talented for motivation!.
