When assessing health, there is almost no metric more critical than VO2 Max as a function of weight. Just how important is it? Well, put it this way, an individual with a VO2 Max in the bottom 25% of the population has a five times higher risk of dying of any cause than someone

"How ironic, my career in longevity died prematurely."

CBS reportedly cutting ties with Petter Attia. He was hired less than a week ago. A career in longevity apparently does not equate to career longevity.

For those of you defending Peter Attia by saying "he was just Epstein's doctor". He invited himself to the island on MULTIPLE occasions. These were all AFTER Epstein had been convicted of r***** a child. My god this is dark stuff. And still no public comment....

As his baby son lay in ICU, Peter Attia told his wife that he was too busy with “important work” in NYC to fly home to see him. He was with Jeffery Epstein.

Peter Attia: "Hopefully JE is in town when I'm back in 2 weeks. I go into JE withdrawal when I don't see him..." Perfectly normal doctor / patient dialogue. Nothing to see here, folks!

Peter Attia talking to JE 7 years AFTER he’d been convicted of r***** a minor. “The biggest problem with becoming friends with you? The life you lead is so outrageous and yet I can’t tell a soul”.

Beyond disgusted that Peter Attia MD, a man who I have followed for years and genuinely looked up to, is in the Epstein files over 1000 times.

Nattokinase is a cheap, readily available natural compound that you can buy for a few dollars on Amazon, and does more to reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease than a raft of expensive, patented pharmaceuticals with materially worse risk profiles.

Thanks so much for reading this thread! I hope you found it informative! If so, can you do me a favor and retweet the first tweet to increase its reach. https://t.co/RaLcuS3msf

So no more excuses: get at it! VO2 Max naturally reduces with age (see below), but my goal it to strive to be the in "Elite" category for my age.

When you're just starting out, even modest "Zone 2" workouts can increase VO2 Max, but the best way to continue to progress is with high intensity interval training. There is also no "perfect exercise" here, but running, cycling, and rowing are all great options.

So what does all of this mean? In short, if you want to live longer, consistently engaging in aerobic exercise is absolutely critical.

So why is VO2 Max such a reliable metric? It's likely a uniquely strong predictor of all cause mortality because it provides an integrated metric for fitness and high-intensity aerobic exercise over a long period of time. You can't "hack" this metric quickly.

The other remarkable fact is that that there appears to be no "Goldilocks" effect where benefits of increasing VO2 Max reach a point of maximum efficacy. It is actually impossible to increase your Vo2 Max "too much".

If you have a higher VO2 Max, you have a higher likelihood of tolerating cancer treatments, surviving viruses, or even of being a better candidate for life-extending surgeries. It impacts EVERYTHING!

Even though it's measuring your body's ability to handle exercise stress, it turns out, this is hugely predictive in determining your body's ability to handle all kinds of other stressors.

Given that VO2 Max is related to heart health, you'd expect it to be highly inversely correlated with cardiovascular mortality, but the incredible thing is, its impacts go MUCH wider than that.

It is measured as the ventilation rate of oxygen, or VO2, measured in milliliters per minute or, when normalized to weight, in milliliters per kilogram per minute.
