.@hrw Absolutely absurd. Shame on @Kennedy_School for bowing to donor influence rather than standing up for freedom of speech + thought. @KenRoth is one of the architects of the modern human rights movement; his views should be shared + debated @CarrCenter - not suppressed.
So much for academic freedom at Harvard's @Kennedy_School: Dean Douglas Elmendorf was so fearful of @HRW's reporting on Israel (applying the same standards as HRW does everywhere else) that he vetoed a fellowship that the Kennedy @CarrCenter offered me.

At @HRW, I accepted the loss of donors who would exempt their favorite country from the application of human rights principles. Why is it acceptable for Harvard @Kennedy_School Dean Douglas Elmendorf to heed donors who don't believe in academic freedom?
