@IrishResearch Pathway Fellow @UCDSBES investigating the ecology and evolution of solitary mining bees. PhD from @TCDZoology in bird speciation
Joined September 2014
Absolutely delighted to be one of the projects selected for funding by the @scienceirel @IrishResearch Pathway Programme! Our team @UCDSBES will be using genomic tools to understand adaptation in solitary bees! Little known but important wild pollinators https://t.co/DZxcpKSOFS

Fantastic to visit the Naturalis Biodiversity Center for the last three weeks. The Naturalis' incredible historical collections have allowed us insight into how mining bee species have adapted across Europe, and to a changing world from 1870 to present! #pollination #ecology

It’s important to incentivize and reward efforts to improve the carbon footprint of the beef & feed value chain—from farm to retail. But to do that effectively, we need an accurate & consistent way to track and calculate carbon outcomes. https://t.co/26JRFUG2PC via @WWFBetterBiz

A case study of Leitrim and Kilkenny used 1830s OS maps & older archival information to identify 120 ancient woodlands, far more sites than previously documented. Many small fragments of ancient woodland in the Irish landscape, but most are threatened and are lacking protection
We also review palaeoecological studies of woodlands in Ireland and assess the use of palaeoecological data for determining woodland ancientness. @MaynoothBiology @Maynoothgeog

Thanks to @PollinatorPlan for posting an update on what's been happening with our rarest true bumblebee in Ireland - the Great Yellow
Once found all over Ireland, the Great Yellow Bumblebee is now restricted to the Mullet Peninsula & adjacent mainland But there's hope. @DaraStanley tells us about the extraordinary work that's taken place in recent years to save our rarest true bumblebee https://t.co/LbspVTAF5X
