A human consumes about 2,000 calories per day. Over 20 years, that’s roughly 17,000 kWh of total food energy. Training GPT-4 consumed an estimated 50 GWh of electricity. That’s 3,000 humans worth of “training energy” for a single model run. And GPT-4 is already dead. OpenAI
🚨 SAM ALTMAN: “People talk about how much energy it takes to train an AI model … But it also takes a lot of energy to train a human. It takes like 20 years of life and all of the food you eat during that time before you get smart.”

Data stratification matters! @OurWorldInData
Was the global decline of extreme poverty only due to China? The share of the world population living in extreme poverty has never declined as rapidly as in the past three decades. The decline in China was particularly fast, and given that one in six people in the world lives

In an attempt to possibly explain why 77 million Americans voted for this man, while simultaneously explaining just why it is that Europeans live substantially longer, I’m absolutely delighted to introduce the revised list of US food that you cannot legally sell in Europe!🧵

Google’s single data center in Council Bluffs, Iowa consumed 1 billion gallons of fresh water in 2024. One facility. One year. Enough to supply every home in Iowa for five days. The reason they need fresh water is pure chemistry. Evaporative cooling towers work by running water
It’s been months and I’m still trying to figure out why AI data centers need fresh water. Not used water. Not recycled water. Fresh water???

Avremmo sino a oltre 50 TWh a 60 €/MWh invece

This is possibly the most controversial finding in immuno-oncology. The effect size is hard to believe. Though RCTs are hard NOT to believe. We need a coordinated effort between academia & pharma to look back at prior RCTs to investigate this. For the safety of our patients.
The time of day for cancer immunotherapy is associated with major outcomes. Early is better. Results from a randomized trial of lung cancer, backs up the importance of our circadian rhythm and immune system https://t.co/bHqUZ3U83O

With the return of measles, lots of other diseases will also be able to more readily make their own comebacks. Why? Because measles causes immune amnesia, making people more vulnerable to many other diseases.
Read and understand this Lots of people think measles is 'OK' because it doesn't *directly* kill that many people But it *indirectly* kills a lot of people because it suppresses your immune system, making you more likely to contract, get injured by, and die from everything else
