Tim McCarver mispronounced my last name a couple times and I told him my grandmother wasn’t happy with him. He asked for her number, called her to apologize and had a nice conversation with her. She got a kick out of it and he always asked me about her after that. RIP Tim

As a middle infielder you had to be aware of Scott Rolen on first base. If there was a double play ball he was coming in hard to break it up. For a big man, he got on you quickly. Did it cleanly but made sure you were going to earn that double play. Respect! Congrats Scott.

The most impressive part of Tiger's week has been how, despite immense pain and much opportunity, he's refused to pull the rip cord. In the Trackman era where everybody can hit it, his desire to compete, out of pride for himself and the game, stands out above all his gifts.

Back in December, I was told by a team official that a prominent, influential owner had been openly saying his goal during negotiations was to "break the union", not find a fair deal. Not all 30 principal owners feel this way, but the fact that mindset exists is problematic.

FWIW MLB has pumped to the media last night & today that there’s momentum toward a deal. Now saying the players tone has changed. So if a deal isn’t done today it’s our fault. This isn’t a coincidence. We’ve had the same tone all along. We just want a fair deal/to play ball.

Repeating: The players' current platform is taking them *backwards* relative to 2017-21. They are not even keeping up with revenue growth. The players are *literally* bending over backwards to reach a deal, and the owners won't accept. This is 100% on the owners.
