Here is a collection of great work for Art years 7-9. Some more colour wheels, creating your own paints from things around your home like flowers and ketchup and year 9 were asked to recreate an artist self portrait.

Amid the global coronavirus outbreak, a second epidemic of preliminary, unverified and misinterpreted research has broken out. Can it be fixed? https://t.co/11QhZ3zrDX

Surprised to find #Bett2020 is twice the size this year - maybe one day was a bit optomistic!

Lots of reseach into the question "does retrieval practice work" is actually asking "if you are regularly reminded are you more likely to remember!" Surprised that the research has not been focussed on actual learning and understanding rather than memory.

Interesting: the #correlation between #academic #achievement and #pupils reporting feeling #safe at #school. Also how feelings of safety decreased with age.

Evidence pupils #learn more effectively when challenged by hard #problemSolving but enjoy the learning less and feel they have learned less. Article doesn't state sample size and is just in one subject but agrees with other studies.

They don’t even realize they’ve learned more.

Good guidance for developing #wholeschool #literacy by agreeing on text structures that go beyond just PEEL. Love the idea of pupils having a diagram of the #textstructure in front of them and ticking sections as they find them.

Teachers of history, science, and other subjects are expected to weave literacy instruction into their teaching. What are the most effective ways to help students read challenging non-fiction texts?

Good article describing how 3R questioning (low level right answers) should be replaced by 3C questioning (cognitive) https://t.co/LZHOc30p4d Also see infographic on same topic using latest OECD TALIS findings

Good article - Like the idea of the warm demander - Closing the gap by not letting it open up in the first place.

Marking that involved giving all students the same 'model answer' in response to homework, proved marginally more effective than teacher marked work in a study of 186 sci students on university courses, but was liked much less by the students. Interesting to try at ks3-5.
Neat experiment finds that students prefer individual comments but learn more from seeing model answers

Well done to these 3 stars. So proud of your performance at the Youth Speaks National Final. You did me, the school, the rotary club and yourselves proud. You reminded me of the reason I love my job and I can't give higher praise than that! @praisesaltash

.@EddieHughes4WN how to improve mental health of LGBT young people? Niazy @METROCharity schools must 'usualise' LGBT identity. Health; young people say long waiting lists, high thresholds. Find it difficult to trust services to be respectful of their identity #LGBTHealth

Niazy @METROCharity need to include younger trans voices in conversations, e.g. re Gender Identity clinics. One young person we work with described huge wait time and then first meeting as 'an hour of verbal abuse' #LGBTHealth
